"Impossible, i was adopted, the only sibling i had was a brother and he-"

"No, Liz, i'm your biological sister...our birth parents put you up for adoption, and they regret every bit of it, i can explain everythinng, but it's a really long story, so you'll have to let me in, so i can explain," she says.

I looked at Chris and he shrugged his shoulders, i swallowed the dry lump in my throat, and moved out of the way so she could come in.

"We should talk privately," I said as she came in. She nodded her head, and i helped her with her luggage up the stairs into another spare room we had. Once we got settled in the room, we sat on the bed across from each other.

"So....we're sisters?" I ask in surprising tone.

She just nods and smiles, tucking her hair behind her ear.

"So, how'd you know about me?" I asked.

"Well...by the time I was ten, I heard mom and dad in their room talking about how much they miss a girl named Elizabeth. This wasn't the only time, I've heard them talk about you numerous times, and being the curious person I am...I finally asked them..." she sighs and kicks off her shoes, getting comfortable on the bed and continues talking.

"When I finally asked who you were, they just gave each other a sad look and nodded at each other...they finally told me that you're my big sister and they regret giving you up for adoption, I asked if I could see you, but they had no idea where you were, and they said even if they did know where you were I couldn't meet you until I was 16 because I'd be more mature. Ha! They're wrong about that!"

She laughed and dug in her bag and took out two pieces of paper. They were our birth certificates. One reads:

Elizabeth Anne Smith born to the parents of Lori Smith and Trent Smith on June 18, 1990 at 2:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Hospital.

The other reads:

Briar Marie Smith born to the parents Lori Smith and Trent Smith on October 17, 1998 at 11:45 pm at St. Mary's Hospital.

I smiled at the fact that Briar and Chris shares the same birthday.

"You and Chris share the same birthday," I say proudly, it'll be easier for me to remember. She just smiled.

I also smiled at our parents' signitures on the birth certificates. Then I frowned again.

"What's wrong?" She asks.

"Why did they give me up for adoption? I've had such a hard time, I honestly think I wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for Chris,"

Briar frowns too and sighs.

"I've asked them the same question," she says.

"They said because they were too young, they couldn't afford to raise a child, but now mom is a lawyer and dad is a owner at a club called Kharma,"

"Oh...wait...why'd they kick you out?!" I ask assuming that they did, considering she brought her luggage.

"They didnt really  'kicked me out' , we actually made a deal that when I turn 16, and when I find you, I'd get to live with you until im 18 if you'd let me, so..here I am!" She says with a cheeky smile. Luckily we have one more room for her to have. We hugged again, then an idea came into my head.

"How'd you get here?" I asked.

"Cab, mom and dad gave me money,"

"Do you think that maybe I could...meet them?" I hesitantly ask.

I know I said that I didn't want to meet them a long time ago, but from everything Briar has been saying, it made me really anxious to meet them. Her eyes lit up and she nodded her head excitedly.
