Weeks passed since I listened to Liz cry on the steps and I confronted her about it later that night when I walked past her room to fetch a glass of soda, she was still crying and when I told her that I heard every word, she just buried her face in my chest and continued crying. Now, all she do is stay in her room all day, she doesn't even go to counseling or therapy anymore, she's just locked in her room. The only time she comes out is to feed Tyler and bathe him and then send him to bed when it is time.
Today, at school, I was the only quiet out of us three girls. Riot's been flirting with some guy with long dirty blonde hair, and Briar,s been with her math friends. Me? Ignoring everyone with my earbud in. I suddenly thought about how much I miss my parents. I know that Riot said that they don't care about me, but I can't help but miss them. Even though we didn't get along much, we still our good days and those were the best. A tear trickle down my face and I quickly wipe it away before anyone sees. The bell rings and the class empties. I threw my books in my bag and threw it over my shoulder, meeting my sisters, yes, I call Briar and Riot my sisters, and we head out the doors and walked our way down the pavement, making senseless chatter.
Briar's POV
I stuck out my key to the house and unlock the door, pushing pass it.
"God, I'm so hungry," Brionna muttered and aimed for the kitchen with Riot trailing behind her.
"Want a hot pocket, Bry?" One of the girls asked from the kitchen .
"No, thanks, I'm gonna go check up on Liz!"
I trailed up the stairs and down the long, gloomy hallway and stopped in front of Liz's slightly opened door. I peeked through it and saw a foot lying on the floor, being the nosey person I am, I pushed open the door, and let my book bag drop on the floor, letting out a house filling scream, seconds later, Riot and Brionna were on my sides, covering the mouths, we rushed over to Liz's limp body, and beside her was a needle, almost empty with something, I backed away from it, afraid to prick myself on it, I then stumbled on my foot and caught my fall on Liz,s desk, my hand landed in a white substance.
"Oh my god," I whimpered as I Stared at the desk. Riot and Bri saw it too. Four white lines, that were now somewhat messed up by my hand, were on the desk.
"She's been doing cocaine..." I finally cried as I wiped my hand on my jeans.
"And Liz overdosed on it! We need to call for help and Chris!!" Riot panicked. I nodded my hand and slid out my phone, but soon pausing as there was a groan from Liz.
"Liz?"
"Uggghhh"
She finally sits up, holding her head, she looks up at us and looks at the needle, then tilts her head up at the desk.
"My fix!!!! WHAT DID YOU TWO DO!?!?" She bellowed.
"Nothing, we just saw you lying on the floo-"
"GET OUT OF MY ROOM, DON'T SAY ANYTHING TO ANYONE OR I SWEAR TO GOD YOU WILL BE ON THE STREETS NOW GET OUT!!!!"
She screamed, and at that, were out of there.
"Just one more line...." I could hear her distantly say.
Months go by of watching Liz twitching and shuddering and crying was torture, but thank god she stopped that. It was extremely hard for her, but we helped her through it. We promised to never tell anyone. Except for Chris, when we told him he freaked, but he calmed down a little when I told him that Tyler didn't see it at all. Even though she did stop going to counseling and therapy, Chris still attended them and worked on his sex addiction. I was beginning to become proud of him. He looked good too, he didn't looked stressed or depressed, every weekend he'd come get Tyler and his smile would spread across his face. And he didn't seemed phased by his split up with Liz anymore. Liz was the depressed one, but she was holding on.
After knocking on Liz's door, to give her her surprise that the girls and I did for her, I could hear music playing fairly loud. It was very calm and melodic. It was the sound of an instrument, and maybe some dubstep like sounds in the background. The instrument was violin, I continued to listen and engulfed the beautiful music coming from Liz's room. I decided to slowly open her door and her back was facing me, she was playing the violin over some kind of dubstep, and while she was playing, she turned to the side and I could see her face, how concentrated she looked, how passionate she felt with the violin, how the tears in her eyes streamed down her face, but she continued playing. Not missing a single note. It was truly magnificent. Breathtaking actually. When she finished playing, because of a string that suddenly broke, she said and put the instrument back in its case. She turned and saw me, wiping the tears from her face.
"That was....beautiful, Liz, where'd you learn to play like that?"
"Middle school was helpful in orchestra," she smiled.
"I hadn't played in awhile. It felt good. What's behind your back?" She asked. I was still holding her gift behind my back and had completely forgot about it.
"Oh, it's a surprise from me and the girls, close your eyes and hold out your hands,"
She does as told and I put the red fabric in her hands. She opens her eyes and stares at the beautiful red laced dress that Riot and I worked our asses off for (the dress in the pic above). And then I handed her the black and red masquerade mask that Bri decorated (also in the pic above)
"This...is beautiful, where'd you girls get these from, they're breathtaking!" She smiled. A smiled we all haven't seen in forever.
"Actually, Riot and I made the dress, Bri did the mask. It's for you..."
She looked up and stared into my eyes.
"But, why?"
"Well...it's a surprise that we have for you, and we want you to wear that tomorrow night, and meet us somewhere at exactly ten. You'll get the directions tomorrow before me and the girls leave...." I explained. She didn't even fight back, she stared at the dress and the mask and smiled happily at them then bringing me into a hug.
"I love you girls so much.... I love you..." She whisperer.
"I love you too...we love you too..."
"Now, let's get dinner done, I invited Lynz, Gerard, Oliver, and of course Maria will be coming," she smiled and we walked downstairs together. Hopefully our plan works out tomorrow night. If not, this could be the end of Chris and Liz.
