"I'm glad ya do. Also, try not to move so much sweetheart." Saddle told her. Leigh-Anne stiffened.
"Oh, sorry about that." She smiled. "I really like it here. Y'all are all so friendly! I was even invited to a party tonight!"
"Oh yeah! The winter solstice party down at the bar!" Saddle said. "It's hell of a party." She laughed.
"Well, my new friend Abigail invited me!" Leigh-Anne told her. Saddle raised an eyebrow, pausing Leigh-Anne's haircut for a moment.
"Abigail? Abigail Rider?" She asked Leigh-Anne.
"Yeah, her! She's a sweetheart, she is!" Leigh-Anne gushed. Saddle smiled and shrugged.
"Have you...have you bought from her before?" Saddle said in a more hushed tone as she continued to work on Leigh-Anne's hair.
"No, what does she sell?" Leigh-Anne asked. Saddle's eyes widened.
"Erm...nothin', nevermind." She said. "So is the party the reason you're gettin' the haircut?" Saddle asked, trying to change the subject.
"Uh-huh. I wanna look good for the party. See if any bachelors wanna check me out." Leigh-Anne giggled.
"Well, I'm sure you'll have fun, honey." Saddle smiled.
"Are you goin'?" Leigh-Anne asked her. Saddle shook her head.
"It ain't really my scene."
"Oh come on, you gotta come! It'll be fun!" Leigh-Anne pleaded. Saddle sighed.
"I might show up for a little bit. Not too long." Saddle told her.
"Better that than nothin', I suppose!" Leigh-Anne smiled. "I'm excited to get to know the rest of Buckleton." She said. Saddle winced.
"Honey...I wouldn't have my hopes up too high."
Nightfall came and Leigh-Anne looked out her window to see multiple townspeople laughing, walking along the trail in their best party clothes. She turned to her little sister.
"And you're sure you gon' be okay, kiddo?" She asked Mary Rose. Mary Rose nodded.
"I ain't that little! I'll be fine." She told her sister. Leigh-Anne nodded.
"Well, alright. Promise me you won't get into trouble. I'll be back before you know it." Leigh-Anne said. She was worried about leaving her little sister, but as long as she kept her inside and locked the door, she assumed she'd be fine.
Leigh-Anne said goodbye to Mary Rose and walked out of the house. She spotted a woman walking by herself to the bar and ran to catch up with her.
"You're Vanilla, right?" Leigh-Anne asked the blonde girl in front of her. The girl nodded.
"I am. Who are you?" She asked.
"I'm Leigh-Anne. I'm new in town." She shook Vanilla's hand.
"Oh, you're the one with the daughter, right?" Vanilla asked. Leigh-Anne shook her head.
"Lil' sister. Close enough, though." She giggled. "You goin' to the party?"
"Pretty much everyone in Buckleton gonna be there. I'd look like I'm absolutely no fun if I ain't at least make an appearance." Vanilla told her. Leigh-Anne nodded.
