It was Monday, 15 July and both Josh and Auggie were in front playing a video game while Maya was preparing breakfast.
She and Josh got the change to actually talk to each other after their so called discussion and Maya actually thinks she understands where Josh is coming from.

She acted like a total brat after she got her memory back and even though she didn't actually know how to act she could have done a much better job at it.
She was all over the place and she still is actually acting like a brat.
Thinking Josh could forgive her overnight definitely wasn't a good idea and she isn't going to think about that too much right now.

After everyone ate Maya just went out to the balcony.
Shawn said they aren't following a specific schedule so everyone was going their own way.
She took a deep breathe as she admired the beauty of Paris.
It was definitely different than New York.
A lot different actually.
She never actually thought she would be there not even to mention in the situation she would currently find herself in.
Just being in the most romantic place on earth but not actually feeling the romance.
She has been keeping her distance from Josh but not actually.
She wasn't acting super uncomfortable or weird but she was definitely acting more like she did when she was thirteen.
Feeling what she did but keeping her distance.

"What you looking at?" Josh asked as he stood next to Maya.
"This place is beautiful," Maya said.
"Yeah it is. You're keeping your distance," Josh said.
"Well I never actually did know how to act towards you in case your forgot. It's better if I do keep a little distance," Maya said.
"For who?" Josh asked.
"For both of us," Maya said and went back inside.

She took a deep breathe and sigh.
Josh has the way to mess with her.
But she isn't going to allow it.
Not while she knows she is going to act like a type of a mother for Auggie.

It was early the afternoon and Josh decided to take Maya and Auggie out.
The apartment is only fun for so long.
They were in a park literally walking distance from the apartment.
Auggie was running around and playing on the playground.
Maya smiled as she pulled out her camera and took a few photos of him.
Later on she actually just took pictures of birds and eventually she relaxed.

"Have you ever considered to be a photographer?" Josh asked.
"No. Since my dad introduced me to it it's all I have been doing. I guess it became kind of a hobby," Maya said.
"Hobby? Why don't you do it permanent?" Josh asked.
"Because I don't think I'll ever do it. Once my parents have another child I'll have to watch everyone like a hawk. Recently I've even thought about..."

Suddenly both Josh and Maya hears cries and looks over to the playground.
Auggie is in the sand while tears are streaming down his face.
Both Maya and Josh got thr fright of their lives and ran over to the nine year old.

"What happened?" Josh asked as he picked the boy up.
"I fell," Auggie says between his tears.
"Okay calm down. You're okay. Where did you get hurt?" Josh asked.
"Arm," Auggie said.
"Let me have a look," Maya said.

Auggie reached out with his arm and Maya lightly touched it.
She saw that it did hurt when she touched it.
She sigh as she looked at Josh.

"We better get him to the hospital. It could be strained or broken."
"Okay let's go," Josh said and they were gone.

Maya let everyone know but they weren't in Paris at the moment.
They were all about one hour away and not able to get to them.
Maya sat in the backseat with Auggie in her lap.
She hummed to him and tried to calm him down.
He wasn't crying very much anymore.
All his tears were dried up but it certainly still did hurt.
Maya sigh as she sees Josh is looking for her through the view finder.
She smiles weakly just before they arrive at the hospital.

Josh opens the door while Maya gets out with Auggie.
The boy was still in a lot of pain and Maya was carrying him.
They entered Casualty and luckily there was already a doctor.

"Ce qui s'est passé?" the doctor asked.
"Il est tombé sur une structure d'escalade. Pas sûr si son bras est juste tendu ou cassé," Maya said.
"Quel âge a-t-il?" the doctor asked.
"Neuf ans."
"Okay let's see what we have," the doctor said.

"What happened?" the doctor asked.
"He fell off a climbing structure. Not sure if his arm is just strained or broken," Maya said.
"How old is he?" the doctor asked.
"Nine years old."
"D'accord, voilà ce que nous avons," the doctor said.

Josh looked at Maya who just spoke French fluent.
She definitely did take the language on school or something.
But he was extremely thankful for her being there.
It's thanks to her Auggie is calm.

"That was fun," Josh said.

Maya was putting a blanket over Auggie while Josh was making tea.
She looked at him sighing.

"His mother is never gonna forgive me," Maya said.
"It wasn't your fault. Accidents happen," Josh said and Topanga came into the apartment.
"Where is he?" Topanga asked as Maya showed her to be quiet.

She saw Auggie was fast asleep and shook her head.

"How could you let this happen? Where was your attention?"
"Whoa calm down. He has been climbing for the past five years. We don't know how it happened and probably couldn't stop it either. It isn't broken. Just strained. Relax. It's nobody's fault. Not even I realized until it was too late. He'll be fine Topanga," Josh said.
"You better hope so."

Maya was standing at the edge of the balcony while she was trying to catch her breathe.
Shallow tears fell on her face and she wiped them away as she heard footsteps.
Josh stands next to her just before he pulls her close to him.

"It's not your fault. It could have happened to anyone," Josh said.
"But it happened while I was watching him. While I was supposed to watching him, not making small talk with a guy," Maya said as she pulled herself away.
"Maya this isn't your fault," Josh said.
"Say it as much as you want. We both know the truth," Maya said before she went back inside.

"What are you thinking?" Josh said as he barched into the Matthews apartment.
"Where's my son?" Topanga asked.
"With Maya and don't even start with she's a risk. You can't blame her. It wasn't her fault. She took her eyes off him for a second. She can't watch him every minute."
"Calm down, will ya? I don't blame her but any mother would react like that. Since when do you act so strong towards her?" Topanga asked.
"I don't. Or maybe I do. I hate seeing her blaming herself. That's all. It wasn't her fault yet she feels like that," Josh said.
"I'll talk to her. Are you guys okay now?" Topanga asked.
"Goodness knows. I think so but won't say anything cause her mood changes on a daily base. I want to say we finally are somewhere but I don't know," Josh said.
