Part 12: "A Mysterious Woman"

A year leaps like a speeding racing car. Jumin had returned to his normal self, an arrogant and cold man. He filled his daily life with only works. He became a workaholic and there is no slight thought of dating a woman. He wants to avoid women at all costs. He is still learning from the mess he made previously. The truth is, Jumin is a lonely guy. He misses her so much. The pain of missing someone that only he can feel it. No one to talk to or share with.

The sky is bright this morning, inside the C&R International building, Jumin seeks his father to discuss about the work matters.

"Father, why am I not allowed to go there? Can't I check the Abu Dhabi team? This is an important business, I have to validate the current progress, do you think they can make it? Are they competent? I need to know each of their capabilities by myself. It's been a year... Can they finish it within the time frame?" Jumin sounds worried. CEO Han always pointed him on every important work but not this one.

"Jumin, do not worry, I have sent our best representatives, you should just focus things around here. Besides, we will start our recent venture soon, you should be focusing on that..." CEO Han drinks the coffee serves in front of him.

"But still I should check them by myself, are you sure they are competent enough?" Jumin unsatisfied with his father's words. It worried him as he never put his trust too much on his employee unless he recognizes their values.

"Jumin, I will handle it myself so, don't worry, my son. They will finish it before the recent project started, trust me..." CEO Han urges him to not worry. He pats Jumin shoulder to calm him. "If you said so father..." Jumin mutters.

It frustrated Jumin as his father refused his help. He wanted to take part in the enormous undertaking as he does not really trust anyone other than himself. The project is very important for the company as it will attract many new investors once they complete it. It is more like an investment project.

As days passed, even with his busy schedule, Jumin still could not forget the love of his life. He kept Sophie's photo on his office desk. He will look at it or talk to it every day. Sometimes, when he was alone in his penthouse, he can still feel her warmth. One way to help him forget her is to drink himself. It is the best way for him to shove away his thought of her. His heart is aching each time he thinks of her. Sophie's portrait that is hanging in his living room is still at its place. He refuses to remove it, as she is still in his heart.

He tried to find her, but she had disappeared from this world. He does not know her whereabouts. He could not find her anywhere. He had hired private investigators to find her, but all of them quit without a reason. He gives up hope.

Five years passed, through ups and down the investment project has ended. It has become a significant success for the company. The CEO holds a minor celebration for the teams upon their return. On the night of the appreciation, Sophie does not attend the occasion as she has not yet returned from Abu Dhabi. The CEO and his son, Jumin attends the ceremony to congratulate each of the team members for their effortless contribution. Instantly, they become famous and appear on the front page of every newspaper.

After a week, Sophie has safely returned. The CEO himself contact her to congratulate her. "Sophie dear, have you give a thought about what I told you? or do you need more time?" CEO Han asks her.

"Oh, I am sorry for making a CEO saying this to me, well, I need more time to think about it... " Sophie answer.

"Call me when you have your thoughts..." He hangs up and willing to wait for her answer. Sophie gives some thoughts of quitting but CEO Han refuses to let her go and offer her another opportunity at C&R International's main branch.
