Part 17: "Jumin's Betrayal"

A week passed, and Sophie finally returned home. She brought all the materials required for the exhibition. A few days later, Sophie took a day off to relax her mind after a busy week. She sits on the comfy couch while her finger is busy scrolling her smartphone.

Rumors have started. This is what she had imagined before. It upset her to read the news. She does not want to confront Jumin and just keep it to herself. Jumin is also busy since the day she returned from Cuba.

The next day, Jumin called Sophie and invite her for lunch but she declines his invitation. She pretends she need to go to a fieldwork.

As months passed, the closeness between Kyra and Jumin grew stronger. But Jumin's love for Sophie never fades away. Because of their busy schedule, they spend less time together. Kyra wanted the exhibition to be exotic, rare, and unforgettable. The exhibition is around the corner and they will hold it at Koro Levu. As Sophie is responsible for the main investor party before the final exhibition. She has to go there before the others.

"Why she want to change the date? Argh! Jumin... Can you ask her for another week? Your birthday is coming, I want to celebrate it with you..." She pleads him to persuade Kyra for another week.

"Sophie... My birthday is not the main concern, this project is a milestone for us, for me, for you, and for our company... We had to finish this soon, so we will have more time together" He kisses and caresses her.

Unwillingly, she flies to Koro Levu and had to stay there for two weeks. She needs to set up the place for a pre party for the exhibitions. A party to celebrate a potential investors. She finished the important part and rushingly fly back to Korea after a week. She desperately wants to celebrate Jumin's birthday. It makes her excited to surprise Jumin. She reached Jumin's penthouse around 2.00 am. Even she feels tired, the guts to surprise Jumin is higher. The security startled to see her.

"Oh, Ms. Sophie... I thought you are on a business trip..."  He sounds surprised.

"Yes, I am... But I take a quick break... Is Mr. Han asleep?" She asks.

"Yes... But... Hmm..." The security chief sounds as he is hesitated to tell her something.

"Don't wake him up, I wanted to surprise him..." She smiles brightly and walks into the penthouse. It thrilled her to able to celebrate her fiancee's birthday. She enters the main door and spotted a pair of strap heels at the door. Instantaneously she felt uneasy and some bad thoughts already come across her mind. She ambles and her heart is thumping faster.

She walks straight to Jumin's room. It hesitates her to push the door, but she gathers up her courage to walk in. She slowly pushes the unlock door and as it is wide open, she sees Jumin is lying on the bed with a woman right next to him. She feels betrayed and her heart shattered into pieces. She walks closer for a better look. It was Kyra.

"How could he do this to me??" She whispers to herself. She immediately walks out of the house. She could not shed any tears as she is filled with anger and depression.

"The same woman who took away my father's love now able to win my fiancee's heart?" She mutters. She urges the security chief not to tell Jumin she was home. Sophie head to Jaehee's place.

"What happens? Aren't you supposedly coming home after the exhibition ended??" Jaehee question. "Can I stay at your place for a few days?" She asks.

"What happens exactly?" Jaehee questions as she sees Sophie is about to burst into tears. She could not hold up her tears anymore. Jumin's act crushes her heart into a million pieces. Jaehee is the best person she can talk to. She feels betrayed by Jumin's love. She never thought Jumin would cheat on her.

"Jaehee... Should I leave him for good this time?" Sophie sober on Jaehee's shoulder.

"You mean Mr. Han? There must be a reason... She must have tempted him first... You know he loves you so much right?" Jaehee reminds her of how much Jumin loves her. He could trade all his wealth to be with her. "Well, I don't... I don't really know now..." Sophie is confused.

"Just calm yourself and get a rest, you must feel tired from the long hours' flight..." Jaehee asks her to go to sleep and get some good rest.

The next morning, Jumin has texted and call Sophie like he always does but she has not replied to any of them. Jumin is heartbroken as he thought Sophie has forgotten his birthday or is she upset as he has agreed for her to go to the Koro Levu earlier than the others. "Is she upset with me?" Jumin stares at his phone as he is waiting for her reply, but there is none.

Later in the evening, Jaehee came back home from work. "Mr. Han is really upset today... He said you have forgotten his birthday... You didn't even give him a birthday wish. Also, he is worried about you... You didn't pick up his call or reply to his text..?" Jaehee asks and Sophie nodded as a yes.

"He looks so worried..." Jaehee wants Sophie to know the current situation. "Sophie... You know him right? You know how much he cares for you, how much he loves you, for whatever reason, there's must be an explanation. Just talk to him..."  Jaehee persuades her to talk to Jumin.

"I do not have the courage to face him at this moment. I don't even know if I can look at him right now..." Sophie murmurs.

"Please talk to him..."  Jaehee persuades more.

"Thanks, Jaehee, but I need a moment for myself..." Sophie answer and hope she will understand. Sophie put her mind into that matter but still, she could not get the answers.

Early in the morning, Jaehee is getting ready for work. "Have you contact him?" Jaehee questions. "Not yet..." Sophie walks towards the door, ready to go out. "Where are you going?" Jaehee sounds concerned.

"I need some fresh air... I'm going for a walk..." Sophie answer her and left the house.

Jumin is uneasy since yesterday because Sophie has not reply his texts or calls. He thought she might be in trouble. He calls Sophie's assistant, Miley as he could not reach Sophie since yesterday.  "Where is Ms. Sophie? Is she busy?" He asks. "Well, Ms. Sophie had returned a few days ago, she said she had something important coming up... Didn't she reached you?" She questions.

"She's returned?" Jumin is in doubt.

"Yes, she is... Sorry, but I had to excuse myself, Mr. Han..." She excuses herself.

"You can go, but please ask her to call me if she contacted you..." He ordered.

"I will Mr.Han..." She hangs up the phone.

Sophie goes to the Flowers Carnival. The crowded place was filled with happy visitors. She walks down the stony gravel pace and immersed in nature's calmness when accidentally someone bumped her. "What are you doing? It's hurt...!" She yells in pain as she is already fell on the ground.

"Oh, I am so sorry, I'm in a rush... I am sorry..." The young man pleads for forgiveness and helps her stand up. After a brief introduction, they hang out together at the carnival. They make friends in a nick of time. "It was so much fun today, thanks to you" She smiles falsely.

"Why are you looking so sad? I notice your phone keeps blinking... It's must be something important, but why didn't you pick it up?" He asks and curious as she refuses to answer the phone.

"It's nothing important... It's just something from work. Let us take a photo, to commemorate this wonderful moment of meeting my new wonderful friend..." She places the phone in front of them and tab on the capture button. She saves memory.
