I was sitting in class, bored and unfocused on my surroundings.

I had the maps to the mountain in front of me. Dylan was watching me from his seat in the back of the class.

I could only think about Damian, Stella and my relationship with Dylan.

"Heather!" A high pitched voice shouted at me. "Repeat my favourite quote." The teacher asked.

She was very skinny and her was pulled back so far that her hairline was receding.

"Quote?" I asked. Suddenly I was wide awake but I wasn't in the mood for school.

"Yes, I mentioned my favourite quote not longer than a moment ago. Let's make it easier for you. Repeat the last line."

"- Doubt truth to be a liar but never doubt I love? I think it's Hamlet." I felt rushed and unsteady. I didn't want to be at school.

"Anyone can multitask. What was the year quote? The one I mentioned last year, briefly?"

I could feel all the students eyes on me. "There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so. That quote is also by Hamlet." I said.

There was whispered murmurs around the class. Everyone was whispering from ear to ear.

"Heather, wait up." Dylan called as we left class.

"Sorry, I forgot about you." I said. It wasn't a lie, I forgot all about Dylan. For a moment I wanted to be single.

"No problem. My brother, he wants to meet you."

We walked to the cafeteria to have lunch. It was only his brother and me that had a lunch period, Dylan was bunking math class.

"There." Dylan whispered in my ear and pointed to a boy sitting alone in the table in the corner.

The cafeteria was empty. There were only few learners walking around and sitting at tables.

"What's his name again?" I asked as we walked closer to him.

"Christopher."

We got to the table. He looked up and saw me. I noticed that he looked very familiar.

"Skateboard boy?" I asked surprised. It was the vampire that knocked into me with his skateboard.

"Seriously, you've met before. Wait, was Christopher the one that hurt you?" Dylan looked angry. It was only one scratch and it healed. Dylan was being unessasary again.

"I'm so sorry. I thought that I smelled blood, I was right."  Christopher said. He looked like a cute puppy. There was no way that he could have been a vampire.

"Wait, so how?" I asked.

"Christopher was adopted by Jeremiah. After Jeremiah adopted me, he took Christopher with. We couldn't have a human around a house full of vampires so we turned baby vamp here." Dylan explained.

Christopher wasn't too bad looking. He was cuter than Dylan and he seemed generous.

"We have different mothers too." Christopher said. Dylan frowned. Clearly they had some sort of problem with eachother.

I chuckled nervously. There was too much tenson in the room. I could almost feel my claws growing out.

"Anyway, Dylan I won't see you for two days. I'm going hiking." I said without looking Dylan in the eyes. But I could feel his expression. Sad and worried.

"Can I go with?"

"My father is going with. So no." I felt bad for pushing him away. He would lose his mind if he knew I was speaking with Damian.

"You guys have issues." Christopher said as he annoyingly slurped on his straw.

The container was a recycled fast food cup and the straw was paper. But he wasn't trying to save the environment. Or the turtles.

"Blood?" I asked softly.

In almost an instant, I saw Dylan's hand reached out to Christopher's cheek. I grabbed it and kept on tightly.

"What is wrong with you. You're going to hit your little brother just because he is trying to survive." I whispered.

"What would happen if he accidently dropped the container. Or if a student knocked into him?" Dylan said. He was angry, eyebrows arched and teeth grinded.

"So, you'd prefer if he starved like you do everyday. He's a child." I was so mad and filled with rage.

I threw his arm aside and I hurried out the cafeteria. I had to shift again.

"Calm and completed? No, calm and collected." I said as I threw myself against my locker and breathed.

I had to feel my surroundings and connect with it. I could hear the water dripping from the water fountain and the teachers in class.

I could feel the weight lift from my shoulders and the walls around me. It was working. Finally, something was going my way.

I pushed myself from the locker and walked around the school.

***
I waited by the end of the road. Waiting for Stella to hand me my bag of hiking tools, clothes and food that I packed the night before.

I saw her car driving nearer. She stopped next to me and opened her window. ,"Told Daddy that you were going for a sleepover at a friend's house." She said as she handed my green bag out of the window.

"Thanks. Don't talk to Damian until I come back. He manipulated me and he'll do the same to you." I said. Stella nodded and then drove away.

The hike was going to take forever but someone needed to do it, if not Damian.

I knew that I couldn't trust him but he made a good deal. I would do anything to be with Dylan. As long as I'm not a vampire to do it.

As I walked through the woods, I heard something. The sunlight scattered through the trees.

I turned around and fell to the ground. I should have never trusted Damian. I could have died.
