"Heather where did you say your book was?" Stella asked as she was scanning through Heather's school bag.
"It's somewhere in the bag." Heather answered through the muffled sound of water falling on the concrete in the shower.
"Why do you want your book anyway? I mean you're in the shower." Stella turned the bag upside down, letting all the items in the bag fall out.
"It's none of your business." Heather answered, playing with her hair while it had shampoo in it.
"There's nothing her-" Stella paused and lifted a book. The page Dylan gave Heather was laying there. The blood on it was dark and dry. Stella picked up the page and pulled her face in disgust.
Heather came out of tbe shower in a baige towel, drying her hair with another white towel. As soon as she saw Stella keeping the page she knew she had to improvise.
"Stella can I have my page back?" Heather said, quickly walking toward her.
"Um, what is this?" Stella held the page in the air so that Heather couldn't reach. "I thought I told you to stay away from that cold one?"
"Stella, I cut myself and so I drew a heart with my blood." Heather showed Stella the small dot left from the splinter cut. She grabbed her page back and pushed Stella out of her room.
"You should be more careful." Dylan said appearing from a dark corner in her room. Heather was frighten because she didn't expect Dylan to be there. She held on tight to the towel around her body.
"You scared me. What are you doing in my room, Dylan?"
"Checking if you're safe. Your sister looks nuts." Dylan answered, walking closer to Heather.
"Wait. Do you hear that?" Heather stopped Dylan on the spot and tilted her head. "Damian's here. You have to leave." She said, hearing Damian's voice.
"Yes. It's a good time for me to leave." Dylan turned around and climbed out Heather's window. She ran to the window as Dylan jumped down.
Downstairs, Damian saw Dylan jump down and run away. "Dimwit." He whispered.
"Damian, hi." Heather said running gracefully down the stairs in a summery yellow dress.
"Heather. I heared you finally shifted." Damian looked at Stella, who looked at the ground, ashamed.
"Who told you? That's not true." Josh said handing coffee to Damian.
"I'm her alpha, I know." He sipped on the coffee, slurping it annoyingly.
"I'm here to give the lovely Miss Heather a gift for shifting."
"A gift? You never gave any of the other's gifts when they shifted." Heather said.
"I heard you were a special wolf."
"Heather, you never told us this. Was she a white wolf?" Kathy asked as she entered the room with a tray of muffins.
"No, no she was a black wolf with red eyes." Damian smiled.
"And she stood on her hind legs, upright. Heather was huge." Stella said, unhappy about everyone speaking about her sister's transformation.
"Hind legs? Heather, you never even told us that you shifted. Stella, as the oldest you should have informed us." Josh said.
"Must have slipped their tiny minds." Damian said. Heather and Stella looked at him, abhorrent at his answer.
"At least I'm not a hybrid." Heather said by accident. Everyone in the room gasped. Damian's smile faded into hatred.
"And what makes you think you can assume such things?" He asked bitterly.
"You knocked into me which caused the shift. You were at my summer school with news that wasn't your concern and Dylan told me you were a vampire." She said in one breath.
Her heart began to beat faster, her breath was heavy. Heather was about to shift again.
"Dylan? The vampire?" Damian said with a smirk. He tried to get all the attention of him. But no one listened. They all tried to calm Heather.
"Heather, are you okay?" Stella asked moving to Heather. She placed her hand on her shoulder to calm her. But it was no use. A werewolf form broke free from Heather's humanly body.
A massive, wolf on it's hind legs was now facing everyone. Stella fell to the ground and stared long at Heather's wolf form.
"She's not a wolf. It's a something else." Damian said as he ran out the house, dropping the mug on the ground, causing it to break into a million shards.
Heather started growling. She moved away from her spot, knocking into objects. Her wolf form began to shrink as she entered the passage.
"Heather?" Kathy said, as she entered the passage and found Heather sobbing on the floor in human form.
"It's okay. Stella get a dress for Heather!" She screamed as she rubbed Heather's back.
Stella quickly got up from the floor and ran to Heather's room. She saw the page with the blood heart on the bed. Stella ignored the page and grabbed a black dress from the drawer.
"Here." She said, running down the stairs and turning right into the passage. Stella threw the dress at Kathy.
"Thanks. Heather here, put this on." Kathy handed the dress to Heather.
"I didn't mean it." Heather said softly as she got up and put the dress on.
"It's okay. Damian is a trouble maker. Pay no attention to him." Kathy got up from the floor.
"Why don't we just leave the Night Blood pack?" Stella asked, peaking from around the corner.
"A wolf without it's pack is a powerless wolf. A lone wolf." Josh said.
"Damian's a bully, Josh. We would be leaving for the safety of our children, not for power." Kathy said as she entered the kitchen, where Josh was.
"We can't leave, remember. We made a deadly deal." Josh hinted.
"Right. I forgot." Kathy said.
"What deal?" Heather asked, entering the kitchen, now dressed in a black dress.
"Nothing of your concern" Kathy said as she looked at Stella.
"Why whenever you make a statement that's not good, you look at me?" Stella asked, running up the stairs.
"Why don't you check on your sister?" Josh asked. Stella banged her room door closed.
Heather nodded and ran upstairs too. "Our children aren't born normal because of a stupid deal we made." Kathy said, placing her hand on Josh's shoulder.
"It's a curse, not a deal." He answered.
Heather could hear everything they were saying with her new werewolf abilities. She was sitting on the steps upstairs.
She then wondered how Damian knew Dylan. "What's with all the secrecy?" Heather whispered to herself. She sat with her head in her hands and thought if everything wrong with her life. Including Dylan Guard. He was the poison she needed.
