Chapter Three

Anna

"i never thought i'd find comfort in a voice."

I had probably looked over Silas's application at least a dozen times. His words were scrawled messily across the paper, a few letters blending together in certain places.

The faint sound of the bell echoed up the stairs as, most likely, one of the boys came through the front door. I drop Silas's application on the living room table and head over to the stairwell, leaning against the doorframe as I hear footsteps approaching.

A head of platinum hair appears and two mismatched coloured eyes meet mine. "Hey Ans." Griffin calls as he makes his way up into the loft.

"Hey."

Another similar head of platinum blonde hair pokes around the corner and an all to familiar grin spreads out across the idiots face. "Sup Cartwright." Mason says, waving a hand before he makes his way up behind his brother.

I notice they're both dressed similar with a pair of different shaded sweats and a white tee shirt.

"Hey you two. Come for some protein shakes before you're training?" I ask sarcastically.

Griffin rolls his eyes at me as he passes. "Protein shakes are the last thing I want right now." He states as he heads into the kitchen.

"Do you even have stuff to make a protein shake?" Mason asks, stopping on the top stair so he's the same height as me.

"Probably not." I shrug, turning to head into the kitchen. Griffin has the fridge open and is already pulling out the egg carton when I walk in. I watch as he pulls out a bowl from the cupboard and starts cracking eggs into it before whisking them.

"You want some eggs Mase?" He yells even though they're only a few feet apart.

"Yes. Scrambled." Mason yells back from the living room, which is only on the other side of the wall.

Griffin shakes his head and rolls his eyes as he pulls out a frying pan. "That's what you were getting regardless of your preference." He mumbles.

I laugh lightly at him as I grab out the bread and pop a few pieces into the toaster. "Do you know when Milo's supposed to be here?" I ask, wondering if maybe he'd want some breakfast too.

Griffin shrugs as he pours the eggs into the pan. "No idea. I haven't heard from him since last night when I was leaving here."

I huff annoyed as I jump up on the counter and cross my legs. "Probably passed out on his couch again."

Griffin gives me a small reassuring smile as he scrambles the eggs, which doesn't do much to help my worrying.

"Is this Silas's application?" Mason suddenly calls out from the living room, his voice breaking through the silence.

I completely forgot I left it lying there and now they'd definitely know I had been looking at it.
