Chapter Twelve

Silas

"your smile. your eyes. the way you laugh. the way you talk. the way you walk... i could stare at you forever"

It's weird what one date can do to people. I don't think I've ever noticed how much that first date can actually mean to someone.

After Anna and I watched the sun go down I took her back to the gym to say goodnight. I only gave her a small kiss on the cheek, knowing not to push my boundaries with her.

She had smiled, squeezed my hand and told me goodnight before walking inside and going upstairs.

I haven't been able to get her out of my head since. At least she's been in it more than usual.

"Silas." Someone calls my name and I snap out of my thoughts.

My manager is standing above me with an annoyed look on his face. His arms are crossed over his chest, his grey hair flopped over his crinkled forehead.

"You've been spaced out since you got here. You're fight starts in five minutes." He tells me.

I shake my head. "Sorry Tanner. I have a lot on my mind right now."

He sighs, rubbing his temples before pointing a finger at me. "Get your head in the game McCoy. I can't risk you getting another injury."

I nod before jumping up and getting back into my pre fight mode.

A knock on the door snaps my finally focused attention towards it and I find Corey Branson standing there, a small subtle smirk on his face.

"Hey man." He greets.

"Corey. What are you doing in Virginia?" I ask him as I make my way over to him where we clasp hands, even with my gloves on mine.

"Had a few things I needed to pick up for the club. Have to keep it running somehow." He pats my shoulder and we pull apart. "How's being back?"

"Good. I've missed the adrenaline." I reply.

He watches me as I punch the air a few times, working up my muscles. "I heard you started training at Marie's. Is that right?" He asks, mentioning Lance's gym.

I stop and look over at him. "You know Lance?"

He chuckles and shakes his head. "I guess you could say we're....old friends? I've also known Milo for a few years and he's boxed at my club before." He explains, rather vaguely.

Corey's always been vague. He's always quite, brooding and calm. Not one for loud parties or spontaneous things, even though he owns a club.

I nod my head and go back to my warm up. "I have started training there, yeah. Mason Hills is actually the one that dragged me down there. But....I gotta thank him for that."

Corey raises an eyebrow in question and I grin.

"Met the most amazing woman there." I tell him.

He smiles and looks down at his hands. He fiddles with his wrist watch, his grin not leaving his face. "So I've heard. You look pretty smitten by her."

I can't help but nod at him. "I've never met someone like her. She resented my efforts at first, but she had her reasons. But now....I think I've finally broke through those walls of hers."

"Good. It's about time someone did." I hear Corey say.

I look at him again. "Do you know Anna too?"
