Music that I've never heard before pumps through the speakers around the room, filling the bar with life.
I've lost Anna somewhere. Her and Skye managed to slip away without us noticing a few minutes after being here and they haven't come back. I would be worried but Mason got a text a few minutes ago from Skye saying that they were just in the bathroom.
Knowing those two though I'm sure they could hold their own if anything happens. Or at least until one of us found them.
"Here Si." A large glass filled to the brim with a golden liquid that can only be beer is placed in front of me. "I said I'd take you out for drinks so it's on me today." Corey says as he gives me the smallest of smiles, which can only be considered a grin for this man.
"Thanks." I say as I wrap my hand around the sweating glass, bringing it to my lips.
Corey watches me down most of the drink with a curious gaze. I'm not sure why but I've been nervous most of the night.
"I'm gonna go scope the place out." He says before disappearing into the crowd without saying anything else.
I glance around to see where everyone else is.
Milo is leaned casually on the other side of the bar, a glass of what looks like whisky placed beside him. In the short time I'm looking at him at least three girls walk up to him and start to flirt, but it's clear to anyone that it's not going anywhere by the look on his face.
Griffin seems to have disappeared and Mason is slumped down in the seat next to me, a long sigh escaping between his lips.
"What's wrong with you?" I ask.
He glances up at me before he starts swirling his finger along the rim of his glass. "Skye." Is his only response, and I don't need anymore information to know what he means.
"Hey you two. What's with the mopping around? Come dance." A pair of arms wraps around my shoulders, the sweet smell of coconuts engulfing me.
"I don't dance darling." I say in reply.
She chuckles before grabbing my hand and pulling me out of my seat. I could've easily resisted her, but I'm not that cruel.
"Well you will tonight so suck it up."
We meet Skye on the dance floor, her eyes lighting up when she sees that I'm there. "Yes now I can make all the boys jealous." She says as she hugs my arm.
"You're not using me to get laid tonight Skye." I tell her, prying her hands off my arm.
She pouts but doesn't fight me as she turns away and continues dancing. My eyes find their way back to Anna as she looks up at me.
"So how do I dance querida?" I ask.
She takes my hands and places them on her hips before latching her hands around the back of my neck. "You just feel the music throughout your body and let it guide you." She says.
"How vague."
She chuckles before dropping her head onto my chest. "Just sway side to side with me."
I pull her closer, my arms now wrapped around her waist as we sway side to side together. The music playing isn't even music you would slow dance too but neither of us really care. I'm just glad I get to spend today with such an amazing woman.
After a few minutes of us slow dancing Anna shifts her head so that she's now slightly looking at me. "I'm glad I met you." She says.
I squeeze her too me, dropping my head onto her shoulder as I breath her in. "I'm glad I met you too querida. I don't know where I'd be right now if I hadn't."
"Probably dancing with a fan somewhere." She says.
I know she's joking but it's painful to think that her words are most likely true. I wasn't one who slept around much before, but I still had a bad habit of doing it, just like any other boxer did.
Since I met Anna, she's been the only one I think about, the only one who I want to be with. I want to watch her grow and blossom into the woman who I know she can be.
"And I'd most likely be at home watching old boxing videos of the boys, unaware of you out there in the world."
"I never want to be that person again. The one who didn't understand how important it is to find that one thing you'd give your life for." I say.
Her grasp tightens around me. "I don't want to be that person either." She says. "You've shown me a side of myself that I didn't even know existed until now, and I want to keep discovering that side of myself."
I pull away so I can see her face. "Then let's keep discovering that together." I say.
She nods, a smile gracing her lips.
I want to tell this beautiful woman in front of me just how much I love her. I want to shout it to the world that this is the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with.
But she's not quite ready to hear that herself.
And so for now instead of telling her my true feelings, I grasp her face between my hands. Her smooth skin soft beneath my calloused fingers.
I run my thumb along her lips, my eyes entranced by the soft flesh beneath my finger. She closes her eyes at my touch, a soft breath escaping past her lips.
I lean down a fraction, our lips only a few centimetres apart before I finally close the distance.
Anna sighs into my mouth as we kiss, her hands holding my wrists so as to make sure I don't escape. I kiss her softly, yet passionately. My feelings for her resonating through my kiss.
She kisses me back just the same and that's when I know I'm done for. I'd do anything to make sure she doesn't get hurt ever again. I'd do anything just keep that smile on her face for the rest of her days.
"I like you Anna. I really fucking like you." I mumble, our lips parting.
Her eyes are still closed but she replies anyways. "I really like you too Silas."
I smooth my thumbs over her cheeks and drop my forehead to hers. "I want to make us official, no more games. Please querida be mine."
"Yes."

I lied last chapter (which was like two months ago 😒) there is not really any drama in this one.
But yay they kissed finally 🥳
I've honestly had no motivation to write this book lately and kinda lost my flow with it but here have this as a peace offering.
Anyways, Battle Scars is officially a year old (whoo 🤧)
When I first started writing this story it was nothing like it is now. The plot and even some characters changed completely. I love where it's heading now and have already had ideas down for the next books in this series.
I will only start publishing the next book once I finish this one tho.
Sorry this was long I will go now. I hope you enjoyed and will see you in the next chapter. (whenever that may be)
