The first thing I did when I exited the portal back home was race to the sea. I threw my burning hands into the water and deep into the sand and bit back a cry in half pain and pleasure as fire poured forth from my fingers. The icy water bubbled and evaporated, newly forged sea glass rising to the surface once the waves had settled. I reached out and plucked a piece of glass from the water, sitting back on the sand in my decadent dress to marvel at it's blue, milky hues under the sunlight.
I heard the crunch of sand underfoot and I instinctively turned to toss the glass at whoever was sneaking up on me, unknowingly igniting the glass in a ball of flame as I did so.
Colt caught the glass in left hand, unflinching at the hot flames. "Hello Cinderella." His acid green eyes dropped to my dress.
"We have escorts now, you don't need to stalk me." I returned my eyes to the sea, my blood still boiling within me.
"Ah, I see what this is about. You have feelings for me." He remarked in a silky tone I had never heard before.
"What?" I looked back at him to find him giving me a look no different to how a snake looks at a mouse.
"I can't really blame you for wanting this." He gestured to himself.
"Could you be any more of an arse?" I struggled to my feet, my heels digging deep into the loose sand.
"I think it's cute how you play hard to get." He approached and I quickly kicked off my heels.
With my heels in hand I started storming away as quick as I could, which was no small feet in my carpet of a dress.
"You must get so lonely out here, no one to keep you company...romantically." He trailed me.
I found it odd that after all the time he had been freeloading at our family home he had only just started to come on to me. I didn't see how someone like myself could warrant the attention of someone so clearly into bad choices.
"You don't know me, you've been here five minutes." I continued to struggle as the sand became damp and sluggish from ocean water.
"Don't you remember? I know everything there is to know. I see everything and I know you're heart yearns for a man who can challenge you in wit and in bed."
I whirled on him, folding my arms while I waited for him to catch up. "Why won't you leave me alone?"
Colt's eyes seemed to see straight through me. "I want you to know that a part of me cares for you the way you care for me." He seemed so sincere.
"There is no part of me that could ever care for you." Despite the darkening look in his eyes I gathered my long skirts and hiked the rest of the way home, my body free of fire and cold and shivering.

I stepped out from my bathroom to find one of the Angel escorts lounging on my bed and reading my journal.
"What are you doing?"
"Dear diary, I dreamt about my father again. What does it mean? Who am I? What is my place is this world?" She paraphrased and made stuff up while she pretended to read it. "Ew." She tossed my journal across the room.
"Get out of my room." I picked up my journal from the floor while the Angel's blue eyes trailed me.
"Is that how you treat all your family?"
I suddenly met the Angel's eyes, taking my time to study her sharp angular features and the turquoise uniform she wore. She stared back at me, her eyes trailing my form curiously.
