Eponine POV
The first thing I thought when I felt the soldier's bullet pass into my body, was the obvious thought. I'm going to die.
The second, thought came when Marius shot the solider that had shot me. Cosette. I had saved Marius by sacrificing myself. I admit that made me feel good about myself, but I worried. Would he survive the remaining battle? I had been watching him daydream over cossete for days on end knowing that he could never see me that way. So lying on the ground, I was worried that he'd get himself killed before he could live his happy ever after with Cosette.
Then my final thought. This came just as I was about to slip away. Lips crushed down on mine and in surprise my eyelids flung open. I expected to see Marius. Instead I saw enjorlras. He was saying something. I love you eponine. And I'm not going to watch you die.
It was in that moment that all my feelings for Marius were vanquished. Never to be felt again. I had enjorlras and the final thought that escaped my lips was :
I love you too enjorlras. More than the world.
