Just Another Secret (Jai Brooks fanfiction)

Chapter 3

I woke up to nothing. The house was silent and I couldn't smell anything which was unusual, as Sienna was always cooking.

I shrugged, got out of bed, showered and put on a pair of shorts and a white, lace crop top. I put my hair in a fishtail braid, washed my face, then I grabbed my phone and walked downstairs.

My schedule is still pretty packed during the summer, I have work on Mondays and Saturdays, Ice Skating practice in the evening from Tuesday-Friday, and figure skating competitions every other Sunday. I do have time during the day though as practice is in the evening.

Oh, did I mention I'm a figure skater? Well I am, I started when I was 4 and now I'm 18 so I've been doing it for 14 years, and I would say I'm pretty good. Not in a conceited way, it's just I always win first place at competitions, if not second place, but never third. Also, I can do double backflips on the ice so if that's not good, I don't know what is.

"Sienna?" "You home?" I called out multiple times.

No reply. I guess she's gone out.

I made myself toast with jam and poured a glass of orange juice, then sat on the sofa and scrolled through my Twitter feed.

The doorbell rang, causing me to jump.

It can't be Sienna as she has her own key. Who was it? I wasn't expecting anyone?

I went to the door and looked to see who it is. It was Jaz.

Jaz had been my friend since the beginning of high school. I love Jaz, but she never has time to breathe during a sentence, and she is very crazy.

I opened the door with a wide smile.

"Hi Jaz!"

"Hi Ellie how nice to see you it's been so long! Is Sienna in? I can't hear her, SIENNA?!  SIENNNNNA! No I guess she's not, unless she can't hear me. Anyway I have to tell you something can I come in maybe?" She said without a breath.

"Um sure" I opened the door wider and she ran in like a hyperactive puppy and jumped on the sofa.

"Wow this place is massive! Who lives here just you and Sienna? Oh wait I know that anyway as I've been here before hahaha! You've changed the decor though. This massive house for two people! Do you have parties? I've never been invited to one. Well it's very pretty I love it! OOH you have so many pools, can I go in one? Your garden is massive too! I love your hair, it's grown so much since I last saw you! Also-"

"Jaz!" I raised my voice, trying to speak over her.

I caught her attention and she motioned for me to speak.

"What brings you here Jaz?" I said, not trying to sound rude, just out of curiosity.

"Ah yes well, Sienna told me that you and Jai hung out and that you like TOTALLY like each other by the sounds of it and I know Jai personally so I started talking to him and he wants to take you out on a date tonight! He said he was going to text you and ask you but I told him I would tell you as we're like, best friends so you and Jai, date tonight, SAY YES PLEASE OH MY GOD PLEASE?!!"

"JAZ! Let me think first, please."

"Okay" She smiled.

I was a little confused as to why Sienna told Jaz, and why Jai couldn't ask me his self, but I really wanted to go on a date with Jai, so I think I'll text him.

"Well Jaz, thank you for letting me know, I think I'll text Jai myself, but thanks. I have to get on with stuff now so thanks for stopping by, good to see you again."

"It's okay Ellie anything for my bestie, hope you have fun on the date well if you go of course HA I hope you do! Ok I'm going to go now bye!"

And with that, she ran out the door.

I grabbed my phone and texted Jai.

"Hi Jai, Jaz told me about the date, what do I wear and what time?x"

I set my phone down but got an instant reply.

"Glad you said yes :) I would have asked you myself but Jaz insisted on telling you. I will pick you up at your house at 7:30, Jaz gave me your address so I will see you then. Wear something fancy:) xx"

I smiled and looked at the time. 1pm.

I replied to Jai.

"Sounds good, see you then:)xx"

I ran upstairs to my room and looked in my cupboard. Shorts, t-shirts, crop tops, leggings, jeans, jumpers, summer dresses, bikinis, swimming costumes. Nothing fancy. I live in California so most of my clothes are summery. It's the second day of Summer and I haven't had time to go shopping yet.

I grabbed my purse, car keys and house keys and walked to my car, locking the door on the way out.

I got to the mall and started dress shopping. It's my first date with Jai tonight so I want to look nice. After hours of shopping I ended up with a red dress that came just lower than mid-thigh, a purse to match the dress, black booted heels and more makeup. I also bought 5 pairs of shorts, 6 crop tops and 3 pairs of flats.

I decided on a trip to the salon.

I got my hair deep conditioned, my nails painted and a facial. I was ready for tonight.

After I got home, I checked the time. 6pm. Okay I have time to get ready.

I jumped in the shower, washed, shaved and got out.

I got changed into my dress, curled my hair slightly at the ends, and did my makeup, finishing my look with some earrings, a necklace and a bracelet. I took my phone off charge, grabbed my purse, some money, my check book and walked downstairs, put my new heels on and waited.

Sienna must have come home when I was in the shower as I didn't hear her otherwise.

"Ooh look at you! Off your date with Jai?" She winked.

"Yeah I am, do I look ok?"

"You look gorgeous! Have fun tonight!"

"Thanks." I flashed her a smile.

I sat on the sofa and looked at the time. 7:30. Jai should be here soon.

I waited a bit longer and looked at my phone. 7:45. Where is he? Has he stood me up?

The time reached 8pm and just as I was about to give up on the idea of him coming, there was a knock at the door.

I smiled to myself, checking my makeup one last time in the mirror before opening the door.

As I opened the door, my facial expression changed from happy to confused. There was a guy in a suit at the door, but it wasn't Jai...
