Chapter 5

Might be quite short, it's just a chapter to keep the story moving.

Ellie's POV

I woke up to my alarm buzzing in my ear. 6am. I groaned but got out of bed. Today was another ice skating competition. It was only an hour away, unlike the one in two months which is in New York City.

Once I've showered, I put on a pair of leggings, a t-shirt and my black Ice Skating hoodie with the company name, logo and my name on it.

I put my hair in a high ponytail and packed everything I needed for the competition. I picked one of many skating dresses; my purple one for the award ceremony. We have to wear a different outfit at the awards than to our performance outfits, because it's "professional". I packed my tights, makeup and my white ice skates.

Once I was ready to go, I got in my car and drove to the skating school, half an hour from where I live. The academy has 12 rinks in it, and as there are only 6 seniors in my rank including me who train at different times, I practically get my own rink.

The time was 7am and I didn't have to get on the bus to get to the competition until 10am, so I had roughly 3 hours to practice through my routine.

I stretched, put on my ice skates and skated onto the ice.

*skip practice and journey to competition*

Ellie's Coach POV

"Ok El, you've practiced your routine and I want another clean win, ok?"

"You've got it." I smiled.

"You have two hours until you're on, so get ready and get stretched. Your solo is a tough routine so good luck."

"Thanks Adam."

Ellie's POV

Coach Adam left and I was left to get ready. I changed into my gold outfit that I got given for the duet, and I called in a makeup artist to do my hair and makeup.

Once my hair was up, my makeup was on and I was stretched and warmed up, I headed over to Olli's dressing room. Olli is my training partner and we're doing a duet together.

"Hey El" he smiled.

"Hi Olli, you ready to go?"

"Yep, let's go".

We walked to where the rest of the team were and we had a team talk.

"All hands in on 3. 1...2...3!"

"Platinum Ice Academy School!" We all shouted.

Olli and I walked towards backstage of the rink, ready to go on next as our team cheer us on. I wonder if Jai showed up. We put on our ice skates and got ready.

"Next up is Ellie Johnson and Olli Smith performing 'Go'"

The crowd cheered as we skated onto the rink, game faces on. I looked up to see Jai sat on the stands, smile on his face.

Olli and I performed our routine and the crowd cheered wildly.

We skated off the ice and got congratulated by our team.

I took off my skates and ran to my dressing room, and changed into my other outfit for my solo, this one being red. I put my skates back on and went back to the team.

"You ready El?" Olli asked.

"Ready as I'll ever be" I winked. He hugged me and I got ready to go on the ice.

"Next up is Ellie Johnson performing 'Little Dancer'

The crowd cheered, especially Jai. I was nervous about this routine as it had 2 back flips, 2 front flips and an aerial pretty close together.

I performed my routine and I was very proud because I aced the flips. I looked up at Jai and saw him mouth 'good job' at me. My stomach filled with butterflies.

I quickly ran to my dressing room, took off my ice skates and changed into my purple awards outfit.

"And last but not least, the senior duets."

My heart started to pound. I've been doing this for 14 years and I still got nervous at the awards, not as much when performing though.

"In third place"

"Jessica Villan & Toby Keith"

The audience clapped.

Phew. At least I didn't get my first ever third.

"In second place"

"Jessi Forth and Caspar Jones"

The audience clapped again. This means either first or nothing.

"And our winners in first place for our duet seniors are"

My heart was pounding so hard, I felt that everyone around me could hear it.

"Ellie Johnson and Olli Smith!"

I sighed with relief and stood up with Olli to claim our award. The crowd cheered and I look up at Jai and saw him smiling and cheering.

"Yet another win" Olli whispered to me and I laughed.

I also got first place for my solo and I was very happy about that.

I packed everything and got ready to leave, as I heard a voice behind me.

"Congratulations to my little ice skater"

I turned around to see Jai stood there. I laughed and he winked at me, embracing me into a hug.

"Thank you" I replied.

"What are you doing on Wednesday?" Jai asked me.

"Not much."

"Good because we have plans, I'll be picking you up at yours at 8am, wear something casual." He winked and walked away before I could even say anything. I smiled and got onto the bus, ready to go home.
