Chapter 16

It was him.

"Ellie?" He smiled.

"Clinton!" I yelled, pulling him in for a hug.

Clinton was my childhood best friend along with Sienna. We did everything together. We stopped talking when I moved from Florida to LA.

"What are you doing here?" I asked excitedly.

"I'm visiting some friends in LA, and I wanted to take a walk. This is so weird, it's been forever!"

"I know, I've missed you so much!"

"Me too! I came here..." He carried on talking whilst I zoned out and studied him.

He was tall and strong built, with brown fluffy hair and bright blue eyes. He had a really nice face shape and two prominent dimples appeared on his slightly red cheeks. He was attractive. He was one of the kids that got bullied for his looks in high school, but who's laughing now.

"You look really good Ellie."

"Huh? Oh right" I snapped back to attention.

"Thanks, you too." I smiled.

"We should get coffee some time. Here's my number, call me okay?"

"Okay." I smiled and he walked away.

Wow, he was hot, and really nice by the sound of it.

I do love Jai, obviously, but lately he's been so over protective and pushy lately. I've been ignoring him and all he's done is call me and leave voicemails.

I know why though, and I think I need to explain everything to him.

I walked back home, got in the car and drove to Jai's.

I nervously knocked on the door and waited for an answer.

Skip opened the door.

"Oh hey Ellie, how are you?" He asked, leaning against the door frame.

"I'm good thanks. Is Jai in?"

"No actually he's not. He went to the cinema and then to Pizza Hut with Candy."

"Candy?" I questioned.

"Yeah, I don't know her but from what I saw of her earlier she is super hot." He smirked.

"Oh um, okay, thanks anyway."

"Bye."

Candy? Who the hell is she? And why was she going out with Jai? It sounded as if they were on a date, and the fact that Skip called her hot. Is he cheating on me? No, he wouldn't. but then again, I've been ignoring him for days, maybe he moved on.

Many thoughts raced through my mind as I got in the car and drove to Pizza Hut.

I felt like a crazy stalker, but with the information I've just got told, I need to find out if he's cheating on me.

As I reached outside Pizza Hut, I looked in through the window. There he was.

He was walking towards the exit of the restaurant, with his arm around her shoulder, she laughed at a joke Jai probably made. She had shoulder length brown hair and green eyes, Daniel was right, she was really pretty.

I felt my eyes stinging with tears, hurt and anger boiling up inside me.

They exited the restaurant, Candy still laughing.

They both stopped as Jai saw me, her facial expressions looking confused and Jai's looking shocked and full of emotion.

"Candy, huh?" I spoke, my voice shaking.

She nodded in confusion.

"Thanks a lot Jai." I said sternly.

Jai's arm released from around the girls shoulder and he tried to grab my arm.

I started running, and I could hear Jai running after me. Of course, Jai was much faster than me and he caught up with me, grabbing my arm and pinning me against the wall.

"What do you want?" I spat through my tears.

"She's not my girlfriend!" Jai shouted.

"Bullshit!" I shouted back.

"She's a friend!"

"Huh?"

Candy turned the corner.

"What's going on?" She asked in confusion.

"Candy, please tell Ellie that we're not dating." Jai demanded

"What?" She laughed.

"Of course we are."

I looked at Jai, raising one eyebrow.

"Only joking. We were friends in high school and we met for a catchup. Besides, I only date blondes." She said flicking her hair.

She pulled out her phone and started showing me pictures of her making out with a blonde guy who I'm guessing is her boyfriend.

"Oh." Was all I could say.

"See Ellie. I would never cheat on you. I love you." Jai went in for a kiss, and I kissed back.

I felt so guilty for jumping to conclusions.

"I'm sorry Jai." I whispered.

"It's ok, I understand." He whispered back, kissing me a few more times.

"Sleep over tonight?" Jai asked.

"Sure." I smiled.

I got in my car and drove to Jai's, and he dropped Candy off at hers and met me at his.

Once we were in Jai's room, we were both sat on the bed. Jai went to speak but I interrupted him.

"Jai I need to explain myself. But you have to promise not to freak out, okay?"

Jai nodded nervously.

"Okay, when I told you nothing happened, I was lying."

"I knew it!" He shouted.

"Shh, let me carry on."

"Okay."

"So anyway, someone, I'm not saying who, came to my house and told me you were in the hospital. I freaked out and got in the car with them, stupid idea I know."

Jai looked confused.

"Anyway, obviously you weren't in the hospital and I realised that when they took me to their house."

"What happened there?" Jai asked.

I turned around so my back was to Jai, and lifted up my top. I heard him gasp, obviously at the bloody cuts and scratches covering my back.

"Did you... have sex?" Jai asked awkwardly.

I laughed at his comment.

"No Jai."

"Well what happened in order for you to get those?" I could see him getting angry.

"They beat me." I showed him my legs that were covered in bruises.

"They tried to rape me, but I escaped before they did."

"Okay, who the fuck did this to you?" Jai shouted, his face fuming red, fists clenched.

"I don't want to say." I said quietly.

"Tell me Ellie!" He shouted louder.

"Nathan..."
