Jack's POV
I topped my staff with glowing blue frost, giving us a little bit of light. Then we crept deeper into the cave. We could here the drip of water and the squeaks of bats, but we couldn't see anything. Just the walls slowly closing in on us.
"Do... do you think maybe we should turn back?" Kistoff asked.
"You can if you want to. I wouldn't blame you." I told him.
"But if the tunnel keeps getting smaller and smaller..."
"It won't. Pitch had power over darkness and fears, not stone."
"Then I'm coming." I shrugged. He could do as he pleased. Now, if only I could convince Elsa to turn around. Lately, a worry had been on the back of my mind. Something that made me worry for her. And if Pitch suspected the same...
The walls suddenly pulled away, revealing a large circular chamber. Small purple flames lit the area, giving it a sinister feel. Anna was chained to the floor in the center of the room by a chain on her ankle, and Pitch stood on the far side of the room. He was facing the other direction.
"Anna!" Kristoff cried, running to her side. I heard Pitch sigh.
"I was wondering when you would come Jack. And bringing an unbeliever too. How rude."
"I didn't bring him. He came of his own accord." I growled.
"How fast do you think I can turn him into a believer?" Pitch chuckled, his black scythe forming in his hands.
"Let's say never." Elsa said, her hands beginning to glow blue.
"Guys? Uh..." Kristoff started, then trailed off.
"You probably should get out of here." Elsa said.
"No way. I'm not leaving Anna."
"Then you should know something. Pitch Black, also known as the boogeyman, is real." I told him. He blinked, looked around the room, then yelped when he saw Pitch.
"What's with all of you people suddenly appearing out of nowhere?" He complained.
"Well that took the fun out of it Jack." Pitch said.
"My pleasure." I replied. He turned to face us.
"You know, I was wondering when you would show up. You certainly took your time."
"I was a little preoccupied."
"Hm. Thinking? How unusual. But it doesn't matter. Anna will soon be mine."
"Over my dead body!" Kristoff shouted.
"You're not helping." Elsa told him.
"The fear will soon consume her, and she will be my puppet." Pitch laughed.
"Let her go. It's not her you want." I said.
"No? And why is that?"
"Because... because..." I was reluctant to say. Who knew what revealing this would do? "Because the guardian is Elsa." There was dead silence.
"What do you mean Jack? I thought Anna was the guardian." Elsa said.
"He didn't tell you? I wouldn't take it personally. Guardians hardly ever reveal everything. Just half-truths. I bet he also didn't tell you that it was his fault he died." Pitch explained.
"Is it true Jack?" Elsa asked hesitantly.
"In a way. But not really. How was I supposed to know-" I started, but Pitch cut me off.
"That ice was dangerous? It's ok Jack, all of us here have made mistakes." He said.
"Yeah, like yours not to let Anna go. Let her go now, or ice starts flying." I demanded, raising my staff.
"But if she isn't the guardian, then I don't need her."
"She is!" I shouted. Silence for the second time.
"At least, I think she is." I mumbled.
"And how could you think both girls were the guardians?" Pitch asked softly.
"They both could see me. They both have a guardian feel. And the crystal wasn't done showing us the new guardians. It was beginning to morph when the blizzard came."
"The blizzard you summoned, hoping that Elsa wouldn't be a guardian."
"No! I would never do that!"
"Face it Elsa. Any guardian cannot be trusted. They always will be keeping a secret from you. But I wouldn't do anything like that."
"Jack...?" Elsa asked.
"I wasn't sure if I was right. If I said you were, and I was wrong, Pitch would hunt you down and kill you too. He would do that if I was right too." I tried to explain.
"Is there anything else you aren't telling me?" I remained still. There was no good answer to this question.
"I'm sorry Jack. I don't know who you are. I thought I did, but I don't." Elsa began to walk towards Pitch, who had a grin on his face. Kristoff stood and ran to Elsa, grabbing her arm and forcing her to stop.
"Elsa, think about this! Do you really want to join the creepy guy?" He pleaded.
"I... no, I don't. I won't join either of you!" Elsa snapped. Pitch's grin melted, and he sighed.
"You are quiet bothersome young man. But no matter. Anna will be dead in moments anyway." And with that, Pitch pointed his hand at Anna, sending a black spear at her heart.
