Life had a funny way of punishing people for their actions... at least that's been Wynter's experience so far in hell. Ever since she arrived in Hell she felt like she deserved to be here. Whenever she had a happy moment something always fucked it up for her whether it be someone that challenged her or her getting heeled into troubling situations. Even though she had made a name for herself in hell and had quite a few demos that feared or respected her, there were always those few demons that were cocky enough to try to challenge her. She was quite tough though and hardly ever lost a fight thanks to her cleverness and abilities.
Wynter sighed as she took another swig of her rum and coke as she sat at the bar listening to all the other demons chatter and laugh with each other. Every now and then there would be an argument that would spark a fight. Whether it be about someone cheating at poker or them throwing insults at each other. Sometimes a demon would come up to her and make small talk with her but then quickly leave once realizing who she was.
Tonight though, someone decided to be bold with her. As she sat there stuck in her thoughts as she enjoyed her drink she was pulled out of her thoughts by someone slamming their hand down onto the bar next to her. She quickly looked up at a mangy looking raccoon demon that smelled strongly of alcohol and looked like he hadn't showered in weeks. Wynter gave him a glare seeing him give her a wide grin in return.
"How's it going toots? Mind playing a little game with me?" He said leaning closer to her.
Wynter leaned away from him and raised an eyebrow still keeping her glare at him.
"I would rather not. You smell horrible and you look like someone who cheats. Plus I don't like raccoons."
This struck a nerve with the raccoon demon as his grin turned into a frown and growled at her getting irritated from her insult.
"Listen I know who you are but I ain't scared of you. All I want is to play a game of darts with you. I've heard rumors about your 'special ability' with aiming and I don't believe it one bit." The raccoon demon stated.
Before Wynter could respond he took out two hundred dollar bills from his pocket and slammed it down next to her on the bar and smirked.
"I'll bet ya two hundred bucks that I can beat your ass in a game of darts."
Wynter was a little surprised at his statement as she eyed the money on the bar. She then closed her eyes and smirked as she gave a little chuckle and stood up from the bar.
"Alright... your on. But don't get angry if you lose. After all your the one challenging me." She said confidently as she walked over the the dart board.
Demons began to swarm around them to watch as she set up the board and gathering the darts. It wasn't every day that someone challenged her in a game of darts mainly because she always beat her opponents. Each time someone was dumb enough to challenger he everyone wanted to watch. She walked back over to the raccoon demon and handed him a dart.
"I'll give you a head start." Wynter sneered at him.
He growled at her but then grinned as he got into position and focused on the board. He threw the dart and hit right below the bullseye. Even if it wasn't the greatest point he still felt proud of himself and turned to look at her giving her a confident smirk. Oh how she was going to enjoy watching him go into a rage after seeing how much better she can do.
She got into position like him and immediately threw the dart easily hitting smack dab in the middle of the bullseye. She turned her head and gave the raccoon demon a wolfish grin as he stood looking the board wide eyed.
"Your turn, trash bag."
He snapped out of his wide eyed stare and growled angrily with a deep set frown as he grabbed another dart.
As the game went on she had thrown all her darts exactly in the middle of the bullseye. She even hit one of her own darts ending up hitting it perfectly. The raccoon demon was not happy and let out an angry screech as he pointed at her."I swear you cheated! No one can be that perfect!"
Wynter sneered at him as she shrugged her shoulders shaking her head a little.
"Me? Cheat? I would never do that. However I do know that you trashy raccoons have a history of being no good cheaters and nasty snitches. So, how about you pay up or I'm going to have to turn you into a nice fur hat."
This enraged the raccoon demon beyond anything else and lunged at her about to take a swipe at her with his claws when someone grabbed his arm stopping him. Wynter looked at the person who grabbed the him shocked to see it was the radio demon. Alastor. The raccoon struggled to pull his arm away from him screeching. Alastor just smiled amused by his feeble attempts to break free as he tightened his grip on his arm.
"Now now that's no way to treat a lady. She played fair and square and you lost. You knew who she was but your ego got the best of you anyways. You made a bet and you lost. Now pay up." Alastor said twisting his arm a little making the raccoon demon cringe becoming quite fearful for his life.
"Okay okay she won! I'll give her the money now please just let me go!"
Wynter watched as Alastor held onto his arm for a few more seconds before letting go finally and looked at her. The raccoon demon did as he was told giving her the two hundred dollars she had won the ran out of the bar with his tail between his legs. She couldn't believe Alastor had done that. Had he been at the bar the whole time watching them play darts? She felt like he was there for a reason and it wasn't a coincidence that he helped her.
Wynter put the money into her pocket watching as the other demons went back to what they were originally doing before the game started. She looked up at Alastor seeing him grinning at her. His grin made her feel a little unsettled but she wasn't scared. She refused to to be afraid of him.
"I suspect you want something in return for helping me out? What are you even doing here anyways?" She asked not really trusting his intentions.
She had heard about him and what he was capable of but she didn't really believe all that shit. After all, how can someone be that powerful? Especially someone who originally was one of the living.
Alastor cocked his head a little at what she said and then shook his head.
"No no my darling, I just can't stand lowlifes like him. The kind of demons that seek attention for their own egotistical values. Although I have heard about you and I'm quite interested and impressed by your abilities. You see, I have a few jobs that require someone with your kind of talent and I was wondering if you were up for taking my offer. I'm willing to pay you quite a large sum of money once the jobs are done of course."Wynters eyes widened a little hearing him asking her to take on a few jobs for him. What exactly did he want her to do? It's not the first time that someone has requested her services in jobs for them though and she was used to it since she needed the money. But this was Alastor. He was asking HER to do a couple jobs for her. The idea of a large sum of money enticed her but she felt like she couldn't trust him completely. He was hiding something... and she was going to find out one way or another what exactly it was.
Wynter closed her eyes as she took in a deep breath and let it out being still for a few seconds before she opened her eyes and looked up at him with a serious look.
"Aright, I'll bite. What is it you want me to do?"| A nice cliffhanger here to start the story off! This is my first story and I'm hoping you guys will enjoy it. I do tend to write long chapters but I try to put a lot of detail into them. If you guys have any suggestions or criticism to help with my writing so I'm willing to listen! But anyways I'll upload another chapter possibly tomorrow so you won't have to wait long for it! |
