Brian's pov
After Jon and I's date last night we decided to watch movies. We ended up falling asleep during Hocus Pocus. I woke up and turned to face him, smiling to myself. He woke up a little.
"Morning."
"Good morning."
"I had fun last night."
"So did I. It was the most fun I've had in years."
"Want to help me with breakfast?" I nodded and kissed his cheek. We got up and headed down the hall. "I want to check on Leo. I heard him scream for Mikey last night."
"Okay." We walked to Leo's room and didn't see him there. Jon freaked out a bit.
"Maybe he went to their room."
"Let's go check." We walked down to Mikey and Carter's room and saw the three of them sleeping.
"Aww cute." Jon took his phone out and took a picture. I shook my head and laughed quietly. Jon grabbed my hand as we went downstairs.
"So, breakfast?"
"What do you want?" I shrugged. "Hmm I know."
"What?"
"Breakfast casserole."
"Oh yum." He grabbed everything he needed and started cooking. I kissed his cheek. He smiled as everyone else came downstairs.
"Morning," Carter said. I noticed that Mikey and Leo had matching pajamas.
"That is too cute." Mikey and Leo blush slightly.
"Thanks."
"Whatcha making?" Carter asked.
"Breakfast casserole."
"Oohhh yum." Luke was the last one to come into the kitchen.
"Hey, sleepyhead," I joked.
"Hey."
"You okay?"
"Yeah." I nodded and walked over to Jon.
"Do you need any help?"
"Nope." He put it in the oven.
"Okay." He set the timer. "Now what?"
"We wait."
"No shit, Sherlock." Jon rolled his eyes and I stuck my tongue out at him.
"You should really show me what else you can do with that," he whispered to me.
"When?" I whispered back.
"How about later?" I gulped and nodded. He smirked. I let out a shaky breath. The timer went off and Jon pulled it out of the oven. "Breakfast is ready." Everyone gathered around waiting for some of the casserole. Everyone got a plate and sat down at the table.
"Mmmm," Leo said as he took a big bite. Mikey laughed at him. "So yummy."
"This is really good, Dad."
"Thank you."
"I want more," Leo said.
"I'll get you some more," Carter said grabbing his plate. He gave Leo another small chunk and set his plate down.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome." When everyone was done, we put our plates in the sink. I noticed Carter was asleep, leaning on his hand. I shook him a bit.
"Carter." He fluttered his eyes.
"Hmm?"
"You okay?"
"I just didn't get a lot of sleep last night."
"Why not?"
"I don't know if it's a parent thing or a me thing, but every time Leo shifted I woke up to make sure he was okay. He moves a lot in his sleep, but it was totally worth it." I smiled. He started to fall asleep again. I shook him.
"Carter, go lay down."
"I can't."
"Why not?"
"I won't leave Mikey to watch Carter alone."
"What? Carter, you need to go lay down."
"But, Leo."
"He'll be okay." Carter whined.
"Don't make me tell Mikey." He whined again. "Mikey, come here." She walked in the kitchen.
"Daaaadd," Carter whined.
"What's up?"
"Nothing," Carter said.
"He won't go lay down when he's clearly tired." Mikey crossed her arms.
"I'm fine."
"Carter, bed. Now." He whined and put his head down. She whispered something to him and he got up and went upstairs.
"How'd you get him upstairs so easily?"
"Um you don't want to know."
"Oh god."
"Yeah." I facepalmed. She laughed and left the room. I went back over to Jon.
"I don't know what's wrong with her."
"She's crazy, but I love her." I smiled.
"What made you want to adopt someone anyway?"
"I always wanted kids, but I never found the right person and so many kids need families. So I chose Mikey."
"She acts a lot like you." He nodded.
"She fits right in."
"Does she get triggered often? You don't have to answer. I was just curious."
"I mean, it depends."
"On what?"
"The situation."
"Oh okay." He nodded. "Now what?" I asked.
"I have no clue."
"Heh."
"What?"
"Just thinking."
"About?"
"How cute you are." He blushed and looked down. I lifted his head up and kissed his cheek. He smiled and kissed me back.
"Hey, Dad, you got a spare laptop that you don't use for anything?" Mikey asked walking in the kitchen.
"Yeah. Should be in the closet in the recording room."
"Alright um I might need some help on doing something."
"Okay, yeah. Whatever you need, Mikey."
"Thanks, Dad." She left the room to get the computer. Jon smiled.
"So, how did she react when she found out who you were?" He chuckled.
"She freaked out. In a.good way of course, but it was the funniest shit."
"Man, wish I could've seen that." Mikey walked back in and sat at the table with us.
"Yeah. It was really cute."
"So can I get help now?"
"Yeah. What's up?"
"Well it is time for Leo to start going to school but I don't know where he should go."
"Well I know there's an elementary school not far from here. I don't know the name of it though. You'd have to look it up." She nodded and started typing on the computer. "Of course I can help with all of the paperwork once you decide, if you need it."
"Probably....his Father's parents were supposed to do this before Leo came to live with us. But Leo came to live here at an unplanned time but that's okay. I know he'd rather be here anyway."
"I'd rather have him here. He was just abandoned."
"Just going to add to the ones he already has." She looked down sadly.
"What are you talking about, Mikey?" She started crying. Jon went over and hugged her. "Hey, it's okay," he said rubbing her back. She wiped her eyes and sighed. "It's going to be okay."
"Sorry...I'll tell you guys some other time."
"It's fine."
"So like what exactly do I need to do?"
"On the school website, there should be a way to register him." She started looking.
"Okay. I found it."
"Fill it out and they should get back to you soon."
"Leo, can you get me my wallet." He nodded and ran upstairs before coming back down and going to Mikey. "Thank you, Leo."
"You're welcome, Mommy," he said kissing her cheek. She smiled and ruffled his hair. He scrunched his nose and ran off to play. She laughed at him.
"He's so precious."
"He is." Mikey continued to type on the computer. "There is so much to fill out."
"I know, but it's necessary."
"I know."
"I'm so proud of you."
"Wh-what?"
"I'm proud of you, Mikey," Jon said. "You are such an amazing mom and you've gone through so much but you never gave up."
"N-no one's ev-ever told me th-that." I saw tears in his eyes.
"Well I love you so I will." Mikey hugged him. He hugged her back.
"Before I finish this...Leo can you come here?" Leo ran in with a dinosaur in his hand.
"Leo, I have a question for you."
"Yes, mommy?"
"How do you feel about going to school?" He looked a little scared.
"I don't know. Do you think I'll make friends?"
"Of course you will. You're to sweet not to be friends with." He smiled.
"Am I going to school tomorrow?"
"No um..." she looks at the computer.
"Looks like you have a a few weeks before it starts."
"Okay! Can I go play now, mommy?"
"Yes." He ran upstairs with his dinosaur. She smiled. "Now time to finish this."
"How much more do you have?"
"I'm at the end."
"Oh good."
"And I'm done." I watched her sink back in her chair.
"They should call and schedule a time to meet him soon."
"Will you go with me?"
"Of course." She smiled. "I'm sure Carter will want to go too."
"Yeah."
"At least Leo is excited."
"I know. I was... nevermind."
"What?"
"It's nothing."
"Mikey, please tell me." She sighed.
"I-I was worried th-that h-he would th-think I didn't wa-want to be with h-him. He's already thought I was going to leave him. Then he had that nightmare that his father took him. I just... I don't know." Jon hugged her.
"Mikey, deep down he knows you won't leave him. None of us will. It's going to be okay." She sighed. "I promise." She nodded.
"I'm gonna go upstairs." She got up and left the kitchen. Jon and I sighed. Luke walked in.
"You guys okay?"
"Yeah. Mikey just enrolled Leo in school," I said.
"Yeah Leo told me."
"Is he excited?"
"Yeah. He said he was going to dress like Matt Smith and David Tennant every day."
"Oh my god."
"He really loves Doctor Who."
"I know."
"Grandpalirious, can you help me with something?"
"What is it, Leo?"
"I want to make make something for mom and dad."
"Like what?"
"I don't know. I needs help with that." Jon and I chuckled.
"Well, what do you think they would like?"
"Uhhh mommy likes anime. Uhh grandpa Brian what does dad like?"
"He likes anime, music, video games and more."
"To FYE!"
"Uhh okay. Go tell Mommy we're taking you out for ice cream okay?"
"MUM I'M GETTING ICE CREAM BE BACK LATER!" Mikey came downstairs.
"What?"
"We're going to take Leo out for some ice cream."
"Okay." I grabbed my keys and we got in the car.
"Put some music on." I turned on the radio and switched it to the rock channel. Leo started humming along to the song. We pulled up to the mall and Jon carried Leo inside. We walked to FYE. "So, what are we getting?"
"Lets me look." We nodded and walked around with Leo. He grabbed a couple different little anime character figures, some of the mario blocks full of candy, and minecraft stuff. "Now I needs stuff to make a cake."
"Okay well we'll have to go to the grocery store to get that. Let's go pay."
Leo ran to the counter and put everything on the counter and the cashier start scanning everything.
"That will be $35.57."
"Grandpalirious, pay the guy." Jon handed the cashier his card and then grabbed the bags. "Tos the grocery store." We drove to the grocery store and got stuff to make a cake. "Whats kind of frosting?"
"Well, Leo, what do you think they'll like?" I asked.
"Uh chocolate."
"Sounds good," I said grabbing two containers of chocolate frosting. Leo smiled. "Let's pay and get home, okay?"
"Okay." We paid for our things and drove back to the house.
"Uncletoonz, make sure mum and dad don'ts come downstairs whiles we make the cake." Luke saluted and stood by the stairs.
"To da kitchen." We laughed and went to the kitchen.
"Leo, can you grab a bowl?"
"Yeah." He ran over to the cabinet and grabbed one.
"Thank you. Now we need a cake pan." Leo smiled as he went to get it. I mixed everything in the bowl and got the cooking spray out. Leo came over and handed me the cake pan. I sprayed the pan and then poured the batter in. I set the pan in the preheated oven and gave Leo the bowl. "You wanna lick it clean?"
"YES!"
"Have at it." He took the bowl and started to lick it. "Now we wait."
"This is fun."
"Yes it is."
"I loves you guys."
"We love you too," we said hugging Leo. He smiled hugging us back. Jon started playing music.
"Dance party!" We laughed and started dancing with Leo. The timer went off for the cake. Jon grabbed the cake out of the oven and set it on the counter.
"How longs till we cans frost it?"
"When it gets colder," I said.
"Okay."
"They're gonna love this," Jon said.
"I hopes so."
"They will." Leo smiled.
"Grandpalirious, I gots a question."
"What is it?"
"Does your privates stay up ins the morning toos?" My eyes widened. Jon froze for a moment.
"Uh..yeah. It's normal." Welp now it's awkward. Jon looked at me and mouthed 'what the fuck.' I shrugged.
"Is it times to put the icing on the cake?" I checked the cake.
"Yep."
"Yay!" We took the cake out of the pans, leveled it, and put it on a cake stand.
"Ready to frost the cake?" Leo started jumping.
"Yes!" Jon grabbed a butter knife as he helped Leo frost the cake. I stood there and smiled to myself, thinking about how much Jon loved Leo.
"Now all we have to do is put what you bought on." Leo ran and grabbed his bag. He started to put everything on there until it was perfect.
"Done!"
"Okay. Go get Mommy." He ran upstairs as fast as he could. I grabbed Jon's waist. "So your dick is hard in the mornings?" I asked laughing.
"Only when I think about you." My eyes widened and I blushed. He smirked. I looked down and fiddled with my thumbs, smiling. He lifted my head and kissed me. I kissed him back.
"This is cute." I looked at him confused.
"You're right, mom." We turned around and saw Leo was back with Mikey and Carter. I blushed and hid my face in Jon's chest. They laughed.
"You feel better, Carter?" He nodded.
"So, Leo, what did you want to show us?" Leo ran over to the counter and pointed at the cake. They walked over and looked at it.
"Aww Leo it's cute."
"Cake," Carter said licking his lips.
"Do you guys like it?"
"No," Carter said. "We love it." Leo smiled. Carter picked Leo up and hugged him. Leo hugged him back.
"So what did you two do while we were gone?"
"Well Carter took a nap and then we just did stuff." I looked at Mikey confused. "What?"
"What kind of stuff?" Jon asked. Mikey blushed. "Don't worry about it." I pressed my lips together. Mikey looked away.
"So cake," Carter said.
"Yeah." Jon grabbed a knife to cut the cake and I grabbed the plates. Carter set Leo down as he ran over to us.
"Can I help?" We looked at Mikey.
"Just be careful." Leo nodded and grabbed the knife. Jon put his hand over Leo's and helped him cut a slice for Mikey. They put it on a plate and Leo handed it to Mikey. They cut Carter a slice next. Leo handed him his piece and they started eating.
"This is really good."
"Holy fuck," Carter said with a mouthful. Leo smiled. Carter finished his slice and rinsed his plate.
"Thanks, Leo."
"You're welcome," he said smiling. Mikey put her plate in the sink and rinsed it off.
"So Leo why'd you want to do this?"
"I love you."
"I love you too." Carter picked up Leo again and hugged him.
"Thank you for the cake."
"You're welcome." Someone's phone went off and I guess it was Mikey's because she pulled her phone out and laughed.
"What's so funny, baby?"
"Something Ethan sent me."
"Ah."
"Yeah."
"Mikey, I need to talk with you in the other room, please," Jon said.
"Uh okay."
