I smirked at all of the surprised faces seeing me standing next to my dad, the head coach.
"All right boys. I know we're all riled up for the game tonight, so make this a good, quick, skate, alright? By the way, this is my daughter, Riley."
All of the boys eyes widened and when I made eye contact with Mat, his jaw practically hit the floor.
"She's going to show you guys a couple drills so I expect you to listen to her and take her advice into consideration since she's a decent player herself." My dad finished off. The boys all nodded and started doing their laps.
The boys finished off their last lap and got into different groups all around the ice.
I headed over to the first group that had wingers just going in circles, doing dekes around the net and shooting.
I noticed Anders go and do a deke but when he tried to put the puck past Greiss, our goalie, he couldn't.
"Anders." I yelled, making him turn around and skate over to me.
"His weakness, like Braeden Holtbys, is five hole. I know it's weird to know your goalies weakness but it's a good thing. The next time you shoot, start your deke on your right foot so your transition will be easier." I said all in one breath.
He looked at me surprised, "Okay."
He went up again and this time started his deke on his right foot and what do you know, he scored. He came over to me with a humongous grin on his face, "Nice work chipmunk."I laughed at his idiotic nickname, and he want back to practicing.
I watched them shoot again and I noticed Beauvilliar getting way too caught up in his dekes, "Beau." I said and he looked up and skated towards me.
"You need to get pucks to the net. if you're loosing, get the pucks to the net or find someone to pass too. You can get fancy but you don't need all the time unless you're a breakaway." I said honestly he gave me a slight frown but nodded, ready to skate away but I stopped him.
"Trust me, this team knows you have skill. You have nothing to worry about. The dekes every now and then make you more impressive." I said and he gave me a grin.
"Thanks Riley." He simply said and skated away. Once I felt satisfied, I moved on to the defensemen.
They were working on passing drills while my dad watched and I noticed.I tapped his shoulder, "You should tell him that-"
"No" he cut me off, "You got it."I sighed while he had a smirk on his face. I skated over to the guy who looked to be in his late 20's.
"What's you're name, Daniel Toews?" I asked him and he gave me a small chuckle, "Devon Toews but close enough."
"Sorry" I said chuckling as well, "But anyway, you have a lot of potential, I've seen your tapes. What I'm constantly noticing though, is you passing. If your losing, take your shot. Don't pass it to a forward if their not open for shooting. Defensemen can score some too, you know." I said and he gave me a smile, "Thanks....."
"Riley" I said with a smile and he nodded, skating away, "It was nice meeting you." He said as he skated away and I smiled and waved at him.
I lastly went over to all of the centers to see them practicing face offs and puck drills around objects like sticks and pucks.
I saw that they were having a battle for centers and if you lost, you'd move but if you win, you'd stay. Mat somehow won every single battle and wasn't moving.
"I'm unstoppable!" Mat jokes around, raising his stick victorious.
I smirked and skated over to him, "Let's go hot stuff." I said making him smile, "So I'm hot now?" He asked teasingly and I groaned, "Not what I meant."
