I woke up to a loud banging noise and I instantly jumped up. I rushed to the steps to see Rebecca at the bottom of them, on her ass, holding her ribs in pain. My mom was instantly by her side as Raelynn, Sofia, and I rushed down the steps.

Raelynn gave Sammy to my mom and helped her up and brought her over to the couch, "What's wrong, Becky?" My she asked her.

"I just get so dizzy and I tripped and then I blacked out." She said in pain and I took a good look at her.

Her face was paler than usual and she looked like she had been sweating. She had dark circles under her eyes that mare her look even worse. She really looked like the definition of sick.

I looked at my mom who was worried and whispered, "Mom she doesn't look to good." I said honestly and my mom nodded her head with worry, "This is her third fever this week."

I frowned and knelt down next to her, "Becca, I'm just going to check your ribs okay?" She nodded and let out a frown, "I'm just in so much pain, and my bones have been aching so much recently. I don't understand. And I can't stop sweating, can someone grab me a water?"

Sofia nodded, "Of course, let me know if you need anything else."

I lifted Rebeccas shirt up so that it only went up to her bra and I had to stop myself from making a noise. Her entire rib area had been bruised already. How the hell is she bruising so quick?

I looked at my mom who was in complete shock and spoke up for her, "Um, Rebecca, we're going to go to the doctor, okay? Just to make sure your ribs are okay."

Sofia brought over the water and almost dropped it from the sight, but kept her cool and gave my sister her water. Becca nodded, "Okay. I'm ready when you guys are."

She finished her water and I helped her up, slowly making my way with her outside. I put her into the backseat of my car where my mom sat with her, and instantly drove to the hospital while Sof stayed home with Sammy and Raelynn.

I'm not a doctor but this looked terrible.

——

I groaned, still pacing around the room. Because of who I was, I was able to get into the hospital quicker, which I hate to admit but I am thankful for. The only problem is that the different tests that my sister had to take for fricken bruised ribs and a fever was insane.

I know that doctors like to test different things just to be sure, but the worst part was that they were being so secretive about everything.

"Ri, relax." Becca said with a slight chuckle from her bed, with her hand in my moms that was in the chair next to her.

"It's just frustrating that no one can just tell us the results and get us out of this place" I exclaimed and the second I said that, the door opened.

A male doctor came in with a very strict look on his face, "Hi, I'm doctor Anthony Barren, I'm the hospitals oncologist." He said and I froze.

Oncologist? That's a doctor for cancer.

Beccas eyes widened, "Oncologist? As in cancer? What's that supposed to mean?" She croaked our, tears already on her eyes.

"I'm really sorry, Miss Trotz, but our scans showed that you have acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) Leukaemia is a cancer of the white blood cells. In leukaemia, the process for making new white blood cells gets out of control. Immature white blood cells, called blasts, keep being made and build up in the bone marrow until there isn't enough room for the bone marrow to make healthy white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets. You thankfully caught it in the very first stages. The tumor is something so small that we almost missed it." He said all at once, taking the three of us a second to process all of this.

My mom instantly got up and started hugging my sister with tears, "I am so sorry mija, we're going to get through this together, I promise."

"Symptoms of ALL can be fevers, easy bruising, aching pains, paleness, frequent infections, weight loss, swollen glands, nosebleeds, and shortness of breath. If any of these become too much, you're always welcome to come to the hospital to see if we can make you more comfortable in anyway."

My eyes started watering but I pushed it back, I need to be strong for her, "So What, we need to go through chemotherapy?" I asked, trying to distract myself.

Doctor Barren nodded, "Yes, roughly about 6 cycles of treatment. We're going to set you up for the 1st and 3rd each month, giving you the rest of the month to get your body into better shape. ALL can get you very weak so it is more common for ALL patients to get as much recovery time as possible." He said.

"What are my odds?" Rebecca croaked out, almost in aggravation.

The doctor sighed, "Well, you can never be 100% with cancer but your odds are better than most." He said honestly, relieving a little bit more of the pressure.

"Alright, I'm going to give you guys some time to yourselves to actually comprehend what's happening. I'll send the nurse to come in 30 minutes to set up your schedule." Doctor Barren said, shaking all of our hands before leaving the room.

I instantly ran over to Rebecca and hugged her, "I am so sorry Becca. It's going to be okay, you're a Trotz, and we're fighters." I said, running my hands through her hair.

She sobbed into my chest and my mom wrapped her arms around the two of us.

When we got home, the whole mood of the house was just depressing. The day was filled with a lot of crying and just sadness in general.

Once everyone was asleep, I headed outside. A car had just pulled up and the person that got out of the car instantly wrapped me in his arms.

"I'm so sorry, Riley." Mat said comfortingly, "She's going to get through this, she's a strong and sassy one." He said, making me let out a chuckle.

I pulled away from him and sighed, "it's just scary, not knowing what's going to happen. It doesn't make sense to me why it has to be Rebecca. She's the most caring person I know and it sucks that she has this monster in her body that's trying to kill her." I said, finally breaking and crying.

"I know, I know." He said comfortingly, pulling me back into his chest.
