(Y/N) shrieked as the water splashed over her yet again. It was the middle of October and yet here they were, at the school's pool.
(Y/N) shook her head fondly, only Tsuyu and other water monsters were technically allowed in this area of the pool.
It went 16 feet down and had little obstacles along the way to get up and out of the water. Any normal person trapped down there would drown.
(Y/N) happened to be one of Aizawa's favorites though, -(stares wide-eyed at Aizawa prompt)- so he had begrudgingly let her go with her girlfriend.
The fact she had eleven years of swim training under her belt probably helped.
What? Kitsunes can swim too.
(Y/N) waited patiently for Tsuyu to reappear, watching the water thoughtfully as it rippled.
Tsuyu's green hair broke through the surface of the water, followed closely by her adorable face and round eyes. Small gills were barely visible on the side of her neck, but (Y/N) knew they were detrimental to Tsuyu's powers. If a water monster couldn't breathe under water were they even actually a water monster?
"Y/N-chan, wanna come for a swim with me, kero?"
"Haha, I'm okay Tsu, I love you but I'm not exactly in the right outfit..."
It was true, (Y/N) had decided to stay in her white school undershirt and change into some black leggings she had brought for gym.
They weren't exactly the best clothes for deep sea, pool, diving.
Tsuyu floated on the water for a minute, then popped back down without a word. Confused, (Y/N) crept to the edge of the pool warily.
The second she reached the edge Tsuyu reached up and- just kidding. In fact, Tsuyu was nowhere to be seen.
(Y/N) stared into the water, searching for her girlfriend.
Without warning, gravity caught up to her and she fell into the cold depths all by herself.
Caught by surprise, (Y/N) flailed for a minute. Her tails spanned out around her, the fur floating ethereally. She managed to right herself and realized quickly that she was running out of air.
(Y/N) pushed herself to the surface... and hit something hard. She glanced up. Shit.
A large concrete platform had drifted over her.
At this point her ears were completely clogged, and she was losing vision, the lack of air turning the hydrogen around her fuzzier and fuzzier. She pushed desperately on the concrete platform, but it was too heavy, and much too large to maneuver around.
She glanced around desperately, lungs burning, she looked for Tsuyu.
(Y/N) finally spotted an extremely blurry shape in the water, but she was running out of air. Her limbs had turned to lead, her clothes were dragging her into the seemingly endless depths. She was sinking. She was drowning. Until she wasn't.
It wasn't like in the movies. (Y/N) didn't shoot her eyes open or suddenly become full of energy. The amount oxygen Tsuyu supplied was barely enough for her to survive on.
Quickly, her girlfriend was connecting their lips again and pushing more oxygen into her lungs.
When (y/n) had enough sense to hold her breath again, Tsuyu stopped and began to pull them back to safety.
Finally they broke the water's surface. The oxygen seared (y/n)'s lungs but she took big gulps of it. She filled her lungs to their capacity and didn't let go until they were back on solid land.
When she exhaled, it was over Tsuyu's shoulder, as the girl had pulled her into a tight hug.
"Are you okay? Kero."
"I-I-I'm fine, I just.... I dunno what happened."
Tsuyu and (y/n) didn't speak again, they just sat in each other's embrace.
Back the reader drown? Check. Be a disappointment and be late to posting even though you said you would every day? ..... Check. Heh.
