Chapter 20: Surprise Bridal Shower

It was the first day of spring and Penny was in her and Rudy's bedroom looking over at her wedding checklist to see what was left to do.

"Now I have to do is have my bridal shower, schedule a spa day the day before the wedding, tell Sophie, Isabella and Roxanna about the bridal sleepover at my house." said Penny as she looked at the nearly checked off list.

Penny's cousins, Isabella and Roxanna were in beauty school studying to be beauticians and Penny has let them do her hair and makeup for her Quinceñera, Jr. Prom and Senior Prom when she was in high school. So she wouldn't have to pay big bucks to have a stylist give her a look that wasn't her.

Just then, Penny's cellphone buzzed and it was a text from her mother that said "Hey Sweetheart. I'm taking you out for lunch." 

Penny texted back her mom that said "Ok give me thirty minutes to get changed and I'll wait for you outside." 

Little did Penny know that her mother texted her to get her out of her apartment so Sophie, Isabella and Roxanna could set up the decorations for Penny's surprise bridal shower.

Penny got in the shower and washed her hair with guava scented shampoo and conditioner.

Ten minutes later, Penny got out of the shower and started to blow dry her hair and put in hairspray.

Then she went to her closet and decided to wear a pale pink blouse with her black skirt and a pair of black flats.

She put on her pink lipstick, grabbed her coat, cellphone and purse.

Penny walked to the elevator and pressed the bottom button to get to the first floor.

Dr. Sanchez was waiting for her outside in her black car and Penny started to walk to where she was parked.

"Hola Baby." said Dr. Sanchez as she kissed her daughter's cheek.

"Hola Mami." said Penny as she buckled her seatbelt.

The two women started to drive to the restaurant for lunch.

After the car was out of sight, Rudy was just pulling in to the parking lot and started getting the food and decorations out of the trunk.

Sophie, Isabella and Roxanna were in Rudy's car helping him get everything up to the apartment.

Rudy carried the bags of food from the grocery store while the girls carried the bags of party supplies.

"I'll make the fruit salad and the sliders." said Rudy as he held the door open for the ladies.

"Ok, Roxanna and I will blow up the balloons, set the table for the food and greet the guests when they arrive." said Isabella while carrying the balloon tank box.

"I'll keep a lookout for when Penny and her mom get here." said Sophie as she looked out the terrace window.

The four friends got in the elevator, walked into the apartment and got straight to work on setting up for the bridal shower.

After finishing setting up the party, the doorbell rang and the ladies were here. Most were friends of Isabella and Roxanna's and a few girls that Penny kept in touch with after graduating from high school.

Ten minutes later, Dr. Sanchez texted Isabella saying "We've finished lunch. Are you finished setting up?" 

Isabella texted back saying "Yeah. The guests are here and the only thing we have to do now is get changed for the shower."

Dr. Sanchez texted back saying "Ok." 

Isabella, Roxanna and Sophie went into Rudy's art room and got changed into their party dresses.

Five minutes later, the three girls went back into the living room where the party was and Sophie saw Dr. Sanchez's car pull up to the apartment.

"Penny's coming! Everyone hide!" shouted Sophie as she speed walked to turn off the lights.

The guests hid under the table and in the coat closet.

Just then, Penny and her mother walked into the apartment.

"Why is it so dark in here?" asked Penny while she turned on the lights.

"Surprise!!!!!!" said the guests.

Penny was surprised when she saw that her apartment was filled of her old friends.

Everyone surrounded Penny with lots of hugs and kisses.

The party was in full swing and everyone was eating and giving Penny presents.

Three hours later, the party was over and Penny decided to help the girls clean up the mess.

"You deserve to relax well clean up the mess for you." said Sophie as she took out a big black trash bag.

The bridal party got to work on cleaning up the apartment until it looked like the way it did before the decorations.

"Thank you for the party." said Penny.

Her bridesmaids, mother and fiancé gaved her a group hug.
