While on the ship, I saw us start to approch the Flying Dutchman. I stood next to Jack. It started raining and I smiled. "So this is it. Eerie don't you think?"
Jack sighed. "Aye, Luv. It is indeed."
The sails furled. In the glow of an oil lantern, Jack and Gibbs stared at the ship, clearly scared.
Will was surprised, and I smiled. I had fear to a point, but I also knew that if an outside source killed me, I would heal.
"That's the Flying Dutchman? She
doesn't look like much.""Neither do you. Don't underestimate
her." He stated, so calmly. I laughed and smiled.Gibbs is pointedly silent. Jack looked at him to say something.
Gibbs sighed. "Must have run afoul of the reef."
Jack looked to Will and asked. "What's your plan?"
"I row over, and search the ship, until I find your bloody key." He stated
"If there are crewmen?" Jack questioned.
"I cut down anyone in my path." He said, scornfully.
"I like it. Simple and easy to remember." He smiled.
At the rail, Will glanced at the cloth and the imprint of the key, stashed it in his pocket.
"I bring you the key, you give me the
Compass." He ensured."Yes. If you do get captured, just
say, 'Jack Sparrow sent me to settle
his debt.""It might save your life." Pintel laughed.
Jack silenced Pintel with a look. Will shrugs, climbs over the side, to the waiting longboat.
"Douse the lamps." He soad sternly.
The Black Pearl, falls back, lit by lanterns. One by one, the lamps were doused. The last lamp was held by Jack. He grinned, his capped teeth shone, as he turned it down, but his smile lingered.
The Black Pearl, the black ship with black sails was invisible on this black night.
Jack cursed. I think he was spotted. I walked next to him and put my hand on his shoulder. Slowly lowering the spyglass. Davy Jones was right, on deck with him. The speed of his arrival is weird and disconcerting like in a dream.
Jack's eyes went from side to side. Crewman of Davy Jones appeared on the deck of the Black Pearl. Lines were drawn. Jack's men and Jones' men faced off, poised for a fight.
"You have a debt to pay." He scoffed.
Jack glanced at his hand, the black spot was still there on his palm. I could tell he was genuinely scared, dealing with a force of nature.
"You've been captain of the Black
Pearl for thirteen years. That was
our agreement." He huffed."Technically I was only captain for
two years, then I was viciously
mutinied upon." He said, slightly intimidated."Then you were a poor captain. But a
captain nonetheless. Have you not
introduced yourself all this time as
Captain Jack Sparrow?" Jones, spat."Not that I recall, why do you ask?" Jack asked.
"You have my payment. One soul, to
serve on your ship. He is already
over there." He assured.Jones face twisted in a combination of anger and incredulity. I glared at Jack. I was pushed back by a crewman of Jones.
I started yelling. "Jack, a ba'a u jump'éel pirata mixba'al ma'alob yéetel asqueroso-"
Jack gave me a silent look that said 'shut up', as I stood there, glowering at him.
"You can't trade. You can't substitute." Jones snapped.
"There is precedent regarding
servitude, according to the code of
the Brethen-" Jack insured."One soul is not the same as another." Jones snapped.
"Ah, so we've established the proposal is sound in principle. Now we're just haggling over price." He said, slyly.
"As has been the case before, I am
oddly compelled to listen to you. " Jones smirked."Just how many souls do you think my
soul is worth?" Jack asked.Davy Jones rubed his octopus beard... and smiled. "One hundred souls. Three days."
I looked at Jack, who was hiding his dismay.
"You're a diamond, mate. Send me
back the boy, I'll get started, right
off." He smiled.Jones was not inclined to do Jack any favors. He sneered. "I keep the boy. A good faith payment. That leaves you only ninety-nine more to go."
"What? Have you met Will Turner?
He's noble and heroic, a terrific
soprano ... he's worth at least four."
Jones was unmoved by what Jack said.My eyes grew bigger. I couldnt believe I doubted him. He was not giving Will over to Jones. He wanted him back.
"And ... did I mention he is in love." He groaned.
"Love. You think that matters to me?" Jones grinned.
"Due to be married. To a lovely young
lady. You hate that malarky." HeJones shot Jack a keen look. "Sparrow. Might this be a lady you are interested in for yourself?"
"Not remotely... but I could be if
it helps make the deal." He smiled.Jones' gaze went to me, as he nodded at one one of his men, who pushed me forward. He sneered. "This lady here." He went to touch my cheek with his claw. I moved my face to the side, snapping at him. "Num, viscoso, ma' pixan, Uláak ba'al! Do not touch me!"
He looked towards Jack and grabbed a knife. "She can take one soul away from your dept."
I got fearful, but was not going to show it. I looked at Jack who grabbed my arm and yanked me to him. He scowled at Jones. "Not likely. She is not part of it."
My eyes widened, and thoughts went through my head. Jack... I will wait for you to admit your feelings. Your scared, so you push them away. I hope you do not keep me waiting too long. I promise to stay with you. Closing my eyes, I embraced him and grinned.
"I keep the boy. You owe ninety-nine
souls. In three days. But I wonder, Sparrow... can you live with this?" Jones smirked.Jack considered. "Yep."
"You can condemn an innocent man; a friend; to a lifetime of servitude, in your name, while you roam free." He stated.
"I'm good with it. Shall we seal it
in blood? I mean ink?" Jack questioned.Jones' face darkened. "Let's not and say we did. Agreed?" He asked
"Agreed." They shook hands and Jack smiled. "I'd embrace you, but I fear it might stick."
Jack lifted his hand to eye-level ... and the black spot faded. He looked past his hand; Jones was gone. I looked around, Jones' men are gone.
Jack moved to the railing. He stared out at the Flying Dutchman, as it was already sailing off, into a distant storm.
Gibbs let me go and I ran to Jack. I wrapped my arms around him tightly. "How are you going to get ninety-nine souls in three days?" I asked.
He hugged me back and smiled. "Don't worry, Luv. I will be fine."
Jack looked at Gibbs and asked. "Gibbs, what is the worth of a man's
soul?"Gibbs shrugged. "Can't say.
"Three days." He grinned.
