i didn't know what to do when i arrived at school and a mic was abruptly shoved in my face. i just stared at it in confusion and shock, until looking up at the person who held it in my face.
"are you in all might's class!? what's he like in person and as a teacher!?" the woman shouted in my face, and i barely caught her words.
hitoshi and i would've walked to school this morning if he hadn't been running behind and insisted i go on without him. i kinda wished i'd pushed harder to walk with him.
"u-um, i, uh, he's a-a..." i couldn't help but stutter, having never been put on the spot like this before.
i could feel my body start to heat up and my breathing pattern was beginning to speed up as the reporters eagerly looked at me for anything they could go off of. i felt like i could crawl into a hole and die right then and there, but before i could have a full on panic-attack, a hand was on my shoulder and i was brought back to reality.
"all might's not here today, so get out of here. you're disturbing my students enough," the gruff and tired voice had stated, using the hand that wasn't on my shoulder to make a shooing motion at the reporters, indicating for them to leave.
aizawa~sensei then began to lead me away from the crowd of reporters, his hand lifting from my shoulder when we were safely inside the school grounds. he turned to me and looked down, tiredly asking, "you alright, kid? you seemed shaken up."
i could only nod, muttering a small, "thank you, sensei," before heading into the school to go to class.
at least you didn't have a full on attack this time! that's better than last time
"i could've handled it better. aizawa~sensei wouldn't have had to come tell them off on my behalf if i hadn't freaked. i need to get myself under control."
these things take time, rin. you of all people should know that
"yeah... i know."
~~~
"decent work on yesterday's combat training, you guys. i saw the video feeds and went over each of your teams' results. bakugou," aizawa started, making everyone snap to attention.
"you're talented, so don't sulk like a child about your loss, okay?"
"yeah, whatever," came the less harsh response from the ash blond, who wasn't exploding like he normally would. honestly, i preferred him more when he was quiet. he seemed less rude and brash, and more contemplative.
"midoriya. i see the only way you won the match was by messing up your arm again. work harder. anddon't give me the excuse that you don't have control over your quirk. that line's already getting old. breaking your body while training here... your quirk will be really useful if you can get a handle on it. so show a little urgency, huh," aizawa~sensei lectured, and though midoriya had been upset at the beginning of his speech, he perked up by the end of it.
"right!"
a pause.
"let's get down to business. our first task will decide your future."
the whole class became tense at the endless possibilities of what our teacher had in store for us.
maybe it's another assessment test, like what the other piss-ants in this class were talking about
"you all need to pick a class representative."
the mood instantly lightened at the normal task that the man stated, and there were sighs of relief from some people.
people randomly began to nominate themselves for the position, and i seemed to be one of the only ones who didn't want to participate in the decision of who would be class rep. it seemed to be a very important job with lots of responsibilities, and i knew that i didn't have the proper skills for that kind of position.
don't be such a buzzkill, rin
"shut up..."
"silence, everyone, please!" iida commanded, and everyone (aside from aizawa~sensei) turned to him in question.
"the class representative's duty is to lead others, that's not something just anyone can do. you must first have the trust of every student in the classroom, therefore, the most logical way to fulfill this position is democratically.
"we will hold an election to choose our leader."
i had to give it to the guy, he was someone that commanded respect and seemed fit for a position like class representative. of course, it was obvious he wanted the position, but he was willing to do it in a fair, mature way, and i had to give him credit for that.
we held the election since aizawa~sensei didn't really give a shit, and though most people probably voted for themselves, it seemed that there actually were people that voted for other people.
i, personally (with the help of venom) voted for iida. he and yaoyorozu were my top picks for this position, and though it was hard to choose, i felt iida desired it more than anyone.
"one vote...?" he questioned shakily, and i decided to keep to myself, not wanting to warrant any unnecessary attention upon myself.
bakugou was upset no one voted for him, and it was ultimately decided that midoriya was our class rep, with yaoyorozu being our deputy. she seemed fine with it, but the boy seemed utterly terrified by his new post. poor midoriya.
in the cafeteria, i nervously looked around for a place to sit, hoping to find hitoshi, but when i couldn't spot him i sighed in disappointment. that is, until a gruff voice spoke up.
"sit your ass down, sludge girl," bakugou demanded, and even though i didn't really want to, i did as he said so he wouldn't yell at me or threaten to blow me up. i knew venom could probably keep him from doing such a thing, but i didn't wanna have to resort to the symbiote unless if absolutely necessary.
we ate in silence, the atmosphere not exactly awkward, but not comfortable either. it was tense, and i honestly didn't expect for him to be the one to break the silence.
"you never answered my goddamn question, sludge girl," he stated, glaring at me as he continued to eat, and i avoided his gaze as i ate my own food.
"that's because there's nothing to talk about, bakugou~san. my quirk isn't anything special, so could we please drop the subject?"
he was about to protest, most likely with more cursing, before the alarm went off. i overheard an upperclassmen saying something about a security breach as the throng of students was pushing up against each other with no regards for safety, and i refrained from joining the crowd.
bakugou seemed to have the same idea, so we both just stayed in our seats as the mob of students soon calmed down thanks to iida. i smiled slightly, but rolled my eyes when venom gave his own commentary.
HAHA! he looks like an emergency exit sign! that's so fucking ridiculous!
after everything was handled with the media and students returned to their classes, i watched midoriya intently as he said that iida would better fit the position of class representative than himself. it was a nice gesture, and they seemed to be developing a good friendship.
if only you'd make some friends for once in your goddamn pathetic life
"yes, i am very pathetic, now can you please stop distracting me?"
