"Merry Christmas!"
"Would you like to me to wrap this for you?"
"Chocolates for SALE!"
"50% OFF! Buy your Christmas Presents now!"
"Miss, would you like to take a look at our tie collection?"
Huh? Oh she was talking to me! "Umm, no thank you!" I said and hurried out of the department store.
Whew! I just wanted a milk shake and what do I get? Christmas shoppers! Darn!
I debated with myself whether or not to go back in and get myself that milkshake and hear everyone being merry about Christmas or just go home. I opted going home.
I trudged in the snow getting cold by the minute. I should have bought myself a scarf.
"I'm home!" I yelled to no one in particular. My house was usually like that. Every single one of my family members are solemn during the holiday seasons.
I passed by my older brother, Jake, as I went to my room up in the attic. I know what you're thinking. The attic?! But it's actually pretty nice there. I have good privacy up there and my room is huge! I sat on my bed and just read a happy Christmas book, "My Happy Holidays".
It may look like I hate Christmas but to tell you the truth, I LOVE Christmas. Having fun exchanging presents, singing carols and basically just having a great time with your family.
I never had a Christmas like that. Ever since I could remember, our Christmas' were always gloomy and plain. We don't have big feasts nor do we exchange presents.
I make or buy presents every year, though I never give them out, for every single one of my family members since I was 8.
Let me tell you more about myself and my family.
My name is Narsha Anderson. I'm 16 years old and currently a junior in Old Brooke High School.
I have two older brothers and one older sister. Jake, the oldest at 25, looks exactly like my father, dark hair, blue eyes and a well defined face, is a graduate of Cambridge University, majoring in Computer Science. Next one up is Nina, who's 23, a gorgeous lady she is, with her black hair and brown eyes, a tall and slim figure, is currently in Cambridge, majoring in Medicine. So she's basically in the UK. And last but not least is Nick, 18 years old, a freshman in college. He chose not to study in a faraway place to keep me company. He's studying at the local community college, Old Brooke College. He's studying to become a teacher. He was the nerdy guy in our family, preferring to study instead of partying on Fridays unlike my older brother, Jake. Oh yeah, I almost forgot my dad. He's a big shot lawyer who's away on big cases all the time. I'm a bit distant with my dad. He's close to Jake and Nina but not so much with me and Nick. I'm not really sure about my mom. I know she died when I was young but nobody would tell me the real reason. Nick's a bit useless considering he is just two years older than me, but Jake, Nina and my dad are all keeping a tight lip about it. We were raised by aunts, nannies, and when they were a bit older, by Jake and Nina.
That is pretty much my life.
