The closer we get, the quicker we go until both sides break into a sprint.
"They're not stopping," Peter cries as we almost cross the line.
"Neither are we," Tony says, lifting up and coming down on Cap as we meet. Clint fires up at Vision as Rhodey flies after Wilson and T'Challa tackles Barnes. I duck through the crowd of swinging arms, forcing my way through to Maximoff to stop her from throwing nearby vehicles at Peter.
We outnumber Cap's team by one, but they have the upper hand when it comes to abilities. Take Maximoff out of the equation, however, and it should balance out significantly.
I fire my stun gun, but the energy pulse pauses mid-air as she turns, grimacing under the strain of fighting both of us, and sends it back towards me. I move aside and it hits one of the crushed airport buggies.
If Peter and I came down on her together she would be weaker, easier to take down. But Peter is already swinging away to web up the others. Just me then. And I'm not gonna get anywhere near her with her abilities.
I fire again, and predictably she catches it, but just as she goes to send it back, I fire again, then again. She lets go of the first, sending it back towards me as I circle around her, continuing to fire, but she works too quickly, sending them away with just a flick of her fingers. I'm not going to get to her this way either.
Before I can fire again, Maximoff hurtles her own ball of red energy. I roll under it, the movement getting me ever closer to Maximoff. She sends another, and I dodge that one. We continue our dance, her firing balls of energy at me and wielding off my stuns as I inch ever closer. Then she fires one at my lower body and instinctively I flip over it, but as my feet leave the ground, I feel her energy catch me and in the next second, my head collides with the side of a van.
Groaning, I sit up in time to see Peter swinging over to check up on me, but as he does, his webbing gets sliced by Cap's shield and he falls to the ground. Cap will go easy on him, though - won't he?
Before I can answer that, the guy who appeared out of nowhere earlier suddenly appears again, moaning on the ground beside me as he presses a button on his suit, and I realise that he actually has the ability to rapidly change size.
"Ah!" he cries, suddenly seeing me, and he scrambles to his feet. I pull myself up.
"Nice powers," I say, smiling slightly.
"Er thanks," he says, uncertainly. "But it's technology actually. I'm sorry - I know you. I'm such a big fan. I'm a computer expert myself."
"Really?" I grin. "Nice to meet you. What's your name?"
"Scott. Scott Lang."
My eyes widen. "You're the guy who hacked into VistaCorp and refunded all their customers?" Scott breaks into a smile and nods. "That was such a great job! I'm sorry you got sent down for it."
"So what about this then?" he says, gesturing back to the still-fighting Avengers. "Pretty mental, yeah?"
"Yeah," I agree. "I suppose you got dragged into all of this too? I wish we could have met outside all of this. You're a good guy. So I'm sorry." I grimace as I bring my leg up and kick him around the head, knocking him backwards and onto the ground before sprinting off. I need to get to that Quinjet while the others are still distracted and stop it from leaving.
