~three~

(annie's pov)

i woke up and got ready just like any other friday. i decided to wear caleb's hoodie that i fell asleep in and some ripped jeans with my favorite white filas.

i just pulled my hair back into a low ponytail with baby hairs in my face of course. i didn't wear any makeup, i don't very often and i definitely didn't feel like wearing any today.

i walked to school with the hood of caleb's sweatshirt and my headphones on my head.
i liked being invisible it made me feel safer. i don't have to talk to people so they don't worry about me and i don't have to worry about them. i don't need anymore anxiety in my life than there already is.

once i got to school what i was afraid of happening happened. i saw asher angel at my locker. as i walked up i slipped the hood off my head and my headphones down to my neck.

"what are you doing at my locker again?"
i said sarcastically.

he was more slouched than yesterday and seemed more to himself, but he responded softly. "i guess i just wanted to say sorry for yesterday."

i glanced over to him and then back to my locker as i pulled out my books. "apology accepted...i guess." i shut my locker door and started to walk away but something stopped me.

i whipped back around and finally made eye contact with him. "how did you even know about the picture anyways?" i asked in a more serious tone.

"uh...this is my locker." he responded pointing at the one he was standing next to. which happens to be right next to mine.

"oh." i stood there for a second asking myself how i've never noticed him before. i'm normally too observant, but i guess it's hard for a ghost to see another ghost. because we blend in, sometimes too much. wow i'm so dumb.

my eyes shot to the floor and stayed there for a couple seconds "sorry..." i said softly and then walked away in embarrassment.

once i got to biology and saw jayden i put the hood back on my head and rested my head on the table.

jayden obviously noticed "i see you have caleb's hoodie on. was it a bad night this time?"

i mumbled through my arm "not really."

"then what's up?" jayden asked confused.

i finally lifted my head after a long awkward pause. "i just found out that asher's locker is right next to mine, how am i so
dumb? that's how he knows about the picture."

her eyes widened "ohhh so that's why your face is so red."

"yes you know how i get when i embarrass myself." i said as i laid my head back down.

the rest of the day was pretty slow to be honest. but it was quiet, at least in my mind. i hadn't seen asher anymore so i wasn't reminded of my embarrassment.

i met lilia and jayden at the lunch table and we just talked the whole time. i didn't really eat anything because i wasn't hungry, but lilia could not shut up about her date with emily last night and i'm not complaining.

it does remind me of how single and lonely i am though, but the reality is i'm shy and quiet. that's the recipe for being single your whole life so i'm just preparing myself for it.

lilia said they went to a little cafe and took pictures together. when she showed me the pictures i could physically feel my heart flutter.

"ugh lilia just make me feel even more single
than i already am." jayden said sarcastically.

i giggled and lilia smirked.

"hmm i don't know jayden." lilia said mischievously.

jayden furrowed her brows "what is that supposed to mean?"

"the past couple of days i've noticed someone checking you out." lilia smiled as she said this.

jayden's eyes got bigger than i've ever seen them before "what?! who!?"

lilia laughed "calm down calm down...." she paused and looked around the room once she landed on her target she subtly pointed.

jayden followed lilia's finger and when she realized who it was i thought she was literally going to explode. "armani? armani jackson...the armani jackson that ive had a crush on since 5th grade? are you serious?"

"do i lie?" lilia said as she raised her eyebrows.

jayden looked at me and started shaking my arm. "armani. has. been. checking. me. out!!!!" i was laughing so hard i couldn't breathe.

"i see." i managed to get out in between my breathless laughs.
