Brayden's POV
Why did I agree to socialize? Why am I such an idiot? I think through my terrible decision of deciding to socialize while putting on a blue and white polo shirt, and some black trousers. I grab my more dressier shoes, putting on mismatching socks, because I honestly don't care. If May cares, then that's her problem.
I hate socializing. I hate socializing. I hate socializing. I hate socializing. I repeat the mantra over and over in my head, trying to calm myself down, but also doing no such thing. I have to remember that I made a promise, and I have to remember that May is trying to get me out of my comfort zone, as much as I hate her for it.
Ring ring ring.
Stupid ass doorbell. I grudgingly walk towards the door, trying to be as slow as possible, grabbing my wallet, keys, phone, and trying everything else in my power to slow down the process of me answering the door and going out for three or four hours, the thought making me gag.
I walk to the door and open it, pasting an overly fake smile on my face. "Hi!" May says, making me forget why I didn't want to socialize.
"H-hi." I said, sounding like a fool. I mean, I probably am, but that's besides the point.
"Are you okay?" She asks, giving me a weird look.
"Y-yeah." I say, refocusing my brain. "You look beautiful."
May blushes. "Thanks."
We sit there like two idiots in a pod before one of us has the courage to talk. Unfortunately, it's me.
"So... are you ready to go?"
"Yup, let's go."
We get in May's car, and she starts the engine. "So I thought we would start with dinner, and then go to the park, and then you can go home. Short and simple, I promise."
"Thanks, May."
"No problem! As long as you like stuffing your face with random food, then we'll have fun. We're going to go to my favorite restaurant..."
May talks about this restaurant and how good the food is and how she goes here all the time. I listen as pleasantly as I can, trying not to sound bored. I do a decent job, holding in the need to sigh until May parks the car and gets out.
It's just a couple of hours.
It's just a couple of hours.
It's just a couple of hours.I get out of the car, and follow May to the front door, repeating the same thing over and over again. Though May isn't bad to look at, I still hate socializing, and nothing, not even good food and a decently pretty girl, will change that.
We get seated almost immediately, and look at the menu for a couple minutes before the waiter comes.
"Good evening, folks. What can I start you out with?"
"I think we're ready to order. But I'll start with a water and then I'll have the buffalo wings, with fries."
"Okay. Sir?"
"I'll also have a water, and then I'll have the Pizza Taco, with broccoli."
"Great. I'll get that right out." He takes our menus, and walks away.
"The Pizza Taco, huh?" May asks, smiling at me.
"I'm trying the socialization thing tonight, so why not try new food?"
"Well I appreciate it. As long as I can have a bite."
"As long as I can have a wing, we have a deal."
We start talking about random things, life, people, our job, our family, everything like that. I'm surprised because it's not completely boring. I actually quite enjoy it.
Our food comes shortly, both of us switching the food we promised each other, and stuffing our faces.
~TIME SKIP BECAUSE I DO NOT WANT TO WRITE ABOUT THEM EATING~
After eating, we again get in May's car, and drive to the park. Why we are going to a park, I have no idea, and would rather go home, but May is trying to be nice, so I won't put a damper on that. I also kind of want to execute my plan.
We get out at the park, and before walking over to the glittering pond, May gets something out of the back of her car.
Wine, glasses, and bread.
"Okay, the wine and glasses I get, but what is the bread for?"
"Feeding the ducks, stupid. What, you think I'm going to eat the bread?" She asks, sarcasm strong in her voice.
"Hey, I'm not one to judge people's weird habits."
"Fine. Come on."
She walks over to the pond, sitting down and pouring the wine. We throw bread at ducks, and drink our wine, continuing to talk about our past, and other things that I hate but am actually enjoying. I hate what May is doing to me.
After a while, we fall silent.
"Brayden?"
"Yeah?"
"Did you have fun tonight?"
"Do you want the truth or the sugar coated bull?"
May laughs. "The truth please."
"It wasn't completely awful. Do I want to go home and sleep for thirteen hours? Yes. Would I do it again? Also yes."
"Good."
We fall silent again.
I take a deep breath, and open my mouth.
"May?"
"Yeah?"
"I think I like someone. I know that's really random, but I have no friends, and I think I can consider you a friend. How do I tell her?"
"Well, knowing you, you're probably scared to death, am I right on that assumption?"
"More right than you will ever know."
"Well then Brayden, you'll have to find out some information about her. Like, what boys is she into?"
"I honestly don't know."
"Then you have to find that out, and then I can help you more."
"Okay. May, what type of boys are you into?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning, evening, midnight reading time, whatever time it is that you are reading this. I know I promised that I would update on time this time, but unfortunately, life got in the way. I actually socialized a little bit, and got ahead on my Italian, and everything like that. I'm really sorry, but life happens. Anywho, I hope you liked this chapter, and as always, vote and comment, I love hearing from you guys! I will again (hopefully I'll follow through this time) try to update on time this time. We'll see though, I do have a life. (Don't listen to that, it is absolute bull.) Again, comment and vote, and I'll write as soon as possible. Ta-ta!
