Chapter 13

Antonio POV

Why.

Why do I have to be such an idiot around Phoenix?

Why did I have to ignore her?

Why didn't I tell her that I didn't want to tell her the reason I was upset was because I don't want to lose her?

I am such an idiot.

I grip my steering wheel tighter and continue to drive down the road, a million thoughts going through my head.

Why do I keep messing up my chances with her? Why would I even do this to her? She doesn't deserve this, I don't deserve her, she always forgives me, even after everything I put her through, she still forgives me.

I feel tears coming from being so frustrated, but I quickly wipe them away, all I want to do is go back to Phoenix's house and apologize for everything that I have done to her, one thing specifically.

I finally arrive at my house and I get out of the car and lock it, making sure to slam my door.

My parents are probably still at the wedding with grandma, so I unlock the door and go inside, the whole house is quiet and dark, it makes me feel more alone than I already feel.

I walk up to my room and sit down on the edge of the bed once I'm there. Thinking of every messed up thing I have done in the past six months, everything I did to Phoenix was terrible, and the worst part is, she doesn't even know what I did to her.

Phoenix POV

I walk to my couch and sit down next to my mom rather dramatically, getting a weirded-out stare from her.

"So, how was the wedding?" She asks facing me.

I am slumped on my couch,
double chin in full pursuit, "It was fine." I say, trying to hide my frustration.

"I know you better than that, cmon, what happened." She asks, raising an eyebrow.

I sigh, knowing that I won't be able to get out of this conversation. "Why are men so... confusing?"

She sighs and laughs at the same time, rubbing her forehead. "That is still a mystery to me, and I've been married to your dad for 21 years and I still can't figure him out."

"What honey?" My dad says from the kitchen, Dad decided a while back to make dinner one day a week, and that day is today judging from the smoke coming from the kitchen.

"Nothing dear!" My mom yells we both giggle, she then continues. "Men are... like woman but at the same time totally opposite. It is just how it works."

"Hmm," I say thinking.

I talk more with my family before going up to my bedroom, today was so confusing and weird, but one thing was for sure that I needed to figure out.

What was the game Crystal implied?

Antonio POV

I open my eyes when I hear the front door open and I sit up.

I realize that I am still in my tux so I quickly change into a black t-shirt and basketball shorts.

I go down to my grandma's room and knock.

"Come in." She says.

I walk into her room and she is sitting on her chair by the window, reading, I sit on the chair next to her, and she puts her book down.

"Yes, Antonio?" She says looking at me.

I clench my jaw, frustrated at myself, but I need to tell my Abuela, I need to.

"Abuela, I, messed up," I say.

She looks confused. "What do you mean?"

"I haven't been completely honest with Phoenix... or you," I say looking down, ashamed with myself.

She raises her eyebrows. I continue.

"There was, this dare, and I-" I start before she stops me.

"Apologize to your girlfriend first, even though I will always forgive you, she may not if she finds out herself." She says.

I smile and kiss her on the forehead before running out of the house, getting my keys and getting into my car, going to Phoenix's house.

It's time to tell her.

So I will try to make at least two more chapters before I leave.
