Namjoon guided Jin to his office, seeing how wonky the man was walking while trying to walk the best he could, almost trying too hard to be perfect.
"You don't have to try so hard, just walk at your own pace and in your own style. I know your back hurts, your brother told me you had injured himself."
"What?" Jin's eyes widened, unable to comprehend what his brother had told Namjoon.
That was supposed to be kept a secret.
"What exactly did he tell you, Kim Namjoon." The older man asked, eyeing his boss.
"He told me that you fell on your way out of the house. I'm sorry to hear that." Hearing this made Him feel less stressed.
"Oh, yes. That's right, I had injured myself on the staircase." He lied.
"You know, you could have taken the day off if you were in that much pain, Seokjin." Namjoon said, opening the door to his office with a keycard.
The office was huge, elegant, and very clean.
"Mr. Kim, I couldn't have done that. Especially not on my official first day on the job. I can't take your trust for granted." Jin's sincerity brought a smile to Namjoon's face.
"Have a seat." He pointed at a sofa, which was far more comfortable than the chair he was sitting on before.
When Namjoon got up and started pacing around his office, Jin became stressed.
"Sir... Did I do something wrong?" He asked the man as he returned to him, placing two glass cup filled with whiskey and ice.
"Wrong? On the contrary, Seokjin. You did so well, that I brought you in here to celebrate.
The way you promoted this company had me captivated."
"So, you were listening the whole time?" Jin turned red as he tilted his head down with a soft smile.
"Oh, sorry if it seems weird or intimidating, but, I usually keep an eye on my secretaries on the first day of work. I've fired countless secretaries, but I have a feeling that you'll be keeping your job for a long, long time." The older man crossed his legs, while both he and
his boss clinck their glasses together.
Namjoon was about to take his first sip when he stopped to stare at how fast Jin downed the entire cup of whiskey in one go, meaning that he was an expert drinker.
"I believe it's not your first time drinking whiskey. Right?" They exchanged a laughter out of thin air, vanishing the tension in between each other.
"No, sir. I'm used to drinking alcoholic beverages." Jin wiped his lips gently, while placing the glass cup on a black, marble table.
They got up and switched places. Now Namjoon was sitting on behind his desk while Jin was sitting on the chair, opposite side, of his desk.
The tall, handsome young man folded his hands together, discussing Jin's work today.
"Overall, I'm very satisfied with your work, Seokjin. Now, about that raise you had mentioned earlier-" Namjoon paused, placing his checkbook on his desk, pushing a stack of papers aside to have room to sign the check.
As he pressed his thumb down and clicked his pen, Jin interrupted him.
"That's not necessary, boss. I don't want a raise in my paycheck, sir." He felt awkward, almost embarrassed about himself for bringing up the topic of his money in the first place.
"Who can understand you, Seokjin. First you ask for a raise, then you deny it? I'm really confused by your behavior, mister." Namjoon removed his checkbook, shoving it back into the inner pockets of his expensive, formal jacket.
