AN: Here's a chapter for you, my lovely readers! I know that it isn't very long at all but I wanted to leave it off where I did in this chapter for a reason. Please let me know what you guys think! There will hopefully be another chapter at some point later this week.

Shopping was rather uneventful for Ann and Tom. Ann picked out a total for four shirts and four pairs of jeans, as well as a sweater and a dress among other needed items. Tom ended up buying the dress for her because he loved how Ann had looked in it when she tried it on and would not take no for an answer.

They had just arrived back at Ann's hotel room and Tom gently took her bags from her so that she could open the door. When they stepped inside, Ann could feel her eyes well with tears. The room was completely put back together and all of the shredded clothing that was on the floor and bed was gone. She turned to face Tom as he shut the door and placed her bags on the bed. "Did you ask them to do this?" she wondered.

Tom looked at her sheepishly, "I asked them to clean up and make it like nothing happened if it were possible." He placed his hands behind his back and wrung them together.

I hope she won't be angry for what else I have done, he pondered.

Ann let a small smile grace her features, "Thank you Tom." she answered sincerely.

Tom smiled, "You're very welcome," he pulled one arm around and checked the time on his watch, noting that it was four thirty, "I'm going to have to go soon, my flight is at seven and it's always good to get to the airport early. Do you have someone to contact to be here with you while all of this is being cleared up?"

She shrugged as she pulled one of the bags to her and pulled articles of clothing from it, "I haven't really thought of it to be honest. I could call my friend Valarie maybe... or my mom."

"I would feel better if you weren't alone while you go through this. I would stay a couple more days if I were able to," he replied as he sat on the edge of the bed and watched Ann as she put away her new clothes.

Ann smiled as she folded the clothes and lay them in the top drawer of the dresser, "Tom, you have done more than enough for me in twenty-four hours than I could ever ask for. I can never repay you for all of this."

"There's no need to repay me, I'm doing this because I want to," Tom quickly answered.

"I know that, but still... you have done so much for me that you never had to do. Hell, you didn't have to open your door last night and come to my rescue," she went on as she continued to put away the clothes and grab for another bag, "But, I'm glad that you did."

He watched her as Ann folded the last pair of jeans and put them away before she shut the dresser drawer. Before she could sit on the bed, Tom stood and gently grabbed one of her wrists, careful of the bruising that he knew was there, and met her eyes. "I couldn't leave you in the hallway. There's no telling what would have happened if I had, and I do not regret helping you last night or today, and I hope we can keep in touch after all of this," he said honestly.

Ann felt her cheeks heat up as Tom talked to her, "I promise to keep you posted about everything that happens after you leave," she assured, "I'm trying not to dwell on what happened but I know the next few days are going to be stressful. Especially if John is let out on bail."

God please don't let him get bail, she thought to herself, as her heart jumped up into her throat at the thought.

As quick as she had begun to panic, the feeling ebbed as Ann felt Tom begin to rub circles on the inside of her wrist, his velvet like voice coming to her ears.

"Hey," he began as he slowly pulled her into a gentle embrace with one arm, feeling as she slowly wrapped one arm around his waist in return, her head resting against his chest, "It's alright. John will not make bail on my watch I will make sure of that if I can. Even if he does, I would implore you to get a restraining order on him."

Ann rested in his embrace for a few moments before she slowly pulled away, feeling a bit more level headed due to Tom's quick thinking to console her. "I intend to file for one, hopefully tomorrow."

Tom nodded as he let go of her waist and wrist before he sat on the edge of the bed once more. "I will give you the number to the police station before I leave. Go ahead and make contact with the person you would like to come to be with you and see if they are able to, before I have to go."

He watched as Ann pulled her phone from her jean pocket and began to pace the length of the room while she called whomever she decided to get a hold of first.

"Hi mom," Ann spoke as she continued to pace, "I... could be better."

Tom sat there and listened to Ann's side of the conversation as she asked if her mother would be able to fly out to California to be with her for a few days and proceeded to tell her about what happened the night before. He tensed momentarily when she mentioned that she was taken in by her hotel room neighbor for the night but silently thanked her for not mentioning his name in her story.

In the end, Ann's mother agreed to fly out on a red eye to be with her daughter and Tom was extremely grateful that she wouldn't be alone.

Tom wrote down the police station's information and let her know before he had to leave, that he had paid for her and her mother to be able to stay in her hotel room for another five days. This caused Ann to tear up at Tom's final gesture and she hugged him tightly before he left to go to the airport to catch his flight.

When Tom had gone and Ann was all alone in her hotel room she removed the make-up from her face and arms before she decided to curl up on the bed to hopefully catch some much needed sleep while she waited for the phone call that would tell her that her mother had arrived in California.
