Clara felt as if her world was that much smaller now. Tig was beyond heart broken at the loss of his daughter and the club seemed lost in itself. Clara found yourself lost in her thoughts a lot. She found her mind wandering back to that night with Dawn and Pope, Tig screaming.
Sometimes it got too much.
She sighed deeply running a hand over her face. Tig had been extremely distant to the point where he wasn't even returning her calls. It was like life had been put on hold in the middle of an attack leaving them powerless.
Chibs also seemed to be distant than usual. He wasn't coming home until late hours of the night and sometimes no nights at all. After Pope's attack everything seemed different.
"You don't talk to me anymore."
She said softly causing Chibs to look up from his paper. He looked at Clara, who stood in the kitchen doorway. He sighed and put down the paper slowly. Removing his reading glasses Chibs patted his lap.
She looked at him for a moment before doing as he and took a seat on his lap. His hand woven around her waist and over her stomach. His chin rested on her shoulder.
"Clara, darlin, look."
He started pausing for a moment to collect his thoughts.
"Things with the club, with my brothers, it's not good right now. An' I know you dunt wanna hear it, but 'es bad, darlin. 'Es gotten real bad."
"What is Jax doing?"
"Tha best he can."
He said while kissing hee shoulder. She frowned not liking the sound of any of it. There had to be something more that could be done somewhere along the lines.
"Maybe... I should come back -- "
"Clara."
"I can help."
She said with hopefulness in her tone. Chibs just looked at her weary knowing that there was little she could do to help.
"Besides Clay isn't there anymore so... no awkward moments with that right?"
"Ya have other things you need to focuse on that are more important than our business."
His fingers twitched over her belly. She huffed and rolled her eyes.
"Kinda hard to do when I'm all by myself."
Chibs chuckled kissing hee shoulder again before her neck. It was good to hear him laughing a little God knows it had been a while.
"How bout we work on that together tonight then? Jus' the two of us? Aye?"
She smiled softly. Turning hee head she turned around and kissed his lips with a soft peck. He returned that kiss with a longer and more passionate one.
"I'll take that as a yes."
He said parting her sides as a signal for her to rise from his lap.
The next morning Chibs had always found himself wondering what he had done to get such a young, kind, and determined woman like Clara. He had known her almost her whole life -- twenty-six years -- and still he never would have imagined that he would have been with her.
It was early morning and Chibs had awoken in bed next to her. As he looked upon her soft and chubby face he found himself wondering more and more as to why she chose him over someone else.
He was getting up there in age. Hell he was old enough to be her father if one was to think that way. But he knew that she was attracted to older men, he just never would have thought that she would have been attracted to him.
