"Why? Why can't you just stop this nonsense and go off far away from here and do what you do best: messing with people's emotions.", said the angel despairingly and desperate, for all he wanted was to be left alone to think at the moment.
But, the demon's hurt expression was getting to be too much as his resolve was slipping. 'Don't give in, thought the angel, you mustn't give in.'. However, the serpent's hurt had been replaced with outrage, as if the vulnerability of his hurt was never there.
" 'Messing with people's emotions'?, you seem to be forgetting that I'm a demon, Aziraphale. It's my job to tempt humans, it's why I'm here. To make a mess of things. But I shouldn't have to say that because you of all blessed people should know that. The very, very last being in existence I'd mess with is you, angel.". Crowley took his glasses off and set them down on a nearby table, he turned to look at Aziraphale, and continued. "As for my 'nonsense', is it really in poor taste for me to finally confess my utter love and devotion for you that I have felt for the last 6000 years? Is it? Has our friendship been only a 'friendship'? We certainly aren't Adversaries anymore. But have I misunderstood our countless dinners together? The drinks we shared? Were those misunderstood too? Was I only ever just a demon to you, Aziraphale?".
The silence that took over definitely wasn't helping the situation. Not when Crowley's snake-like eyes were now wide and starting to form unshed tears.
Aziraphale finally broke the silence, and as gently as he could with a shaky voice, said, "My dear, we might be safe from Heaven and Hell for now, but I can't risk becoming something- more, something more than friends with you. We are an A-".
Crowley took two dangerous steps forward, and hissed, "Don't you dare finish that sssentence, Angel.".
After a few more moments of silence (and staring), the Principality sighed, "Crowley, please don't make me choose. I'm afraid I'm not, or ever will be, ready to make a decision."
The demon, undeterred and with every bit of love he feels for the angel, his angel, stepped backward and with a frightening sense of calm, said, "Then I'll wait another 6000 years if I have to, however long it takes, for you to decide. I've made my own decision, and I'll continue to stand by it as I have for the last 6000 years. We're on our own side, Angel. I just hope that one day, you'll realize that."
With that, the demon grabbed his glasses and sauntered to the front door of the bookshop, glanced at his best friend, the love of his life, and bid him a good night, leaving a saddened and tear-stained angel behind.
(A/N): I hope this didn't suck, I'll do my best to keep updating more. Hopefully, that shouldn't come as a problem since I don't really do my homework as often so... -D. ✌
