Chapter 3

NATALIA

I don't know what to say. I guess, I never thought Fabian would ever come back. But... then I heard about his father and I guess he would want to be near people who he loves and knows. He was all alone. Going through the death of his father alone. I had no idea that he wasn't keeping in contact with Dalia. I thought he was but I guess not. I understand though... I understand why. He's ashamed. Ashamed of what she'll think of him or even say. He doesn't want her to see him differently.

I decided to call him back when I left the bookstore. I know Dalia isn't a fan of me but could she make it anymore obvious? The thought of not getting the approval of Fabian's best friend did hurt. I thought I was being extremely judged on a level that I don't even know.

As I call him, the dial rings out and soon I hear his voice.

"Natalia, I've been trying to get a hold of you. Can we meet?" I take in a sharp intake of breath and sigh, slowly.

"Yeah. Meet me at Santorinis' panini's" I tell him and then I hang up. I get into my car, and straight away put the heater on. The car warms up in an instant and I make my way to our meeting point. When I reach the cafe, I see him through the glass. The way he's just sitting there, makes my heart beat faster. It slows when I look down at my left hand. The diamond ring reminds me what I need to tell him. I close my eyes, trying to chase the pain away. I look back up and see his eyes on mine. My breath hitches. He's beautiful. He's changed, a lot. I walk closer to the entrance and keep walking until I reach him. He stands up and shock evades my emotions as I see the inches he's grown. I mean, he left when he was only a boy and now he's back a man.

His muscles shown through his long coat. I take in his appearance. He looks much smarter and casual than how he used to dress. I remember always telling him to dress nicely instead of tracksuit and trainers.

The five o'clock shadow on his face enhances his manly features. He's breathtaking. But I can't have these thoughts about my ex boyfriend. I'm an engaged woman with a gorgeous fiancé.

"Natalia, you... you've changed" he gestures to my feminine body. It's true, I have changed. My curves have blossomed and my breasts have enlarged. My features are now more mature than how it was before.

"Good change or bad change?" I ask him and he chuckles and rubs the back of his neck as he looks down. I smile as I watch him. He clears his throat and looks back up and catches me staring at him.

"I mean it in a good way. You're... you're more beautiful than I last saw you which was obviously, when we were 16" he laughs and I smile. "Take a seat. I got you coffee, honeycomb frappe right? With extra sugar and whipped cream and caramel syrup on top?" He passes it to me and I drink it. I smile and nod my head. I cringe inside when I taste it. I didn't have the heart to tell him I don't like it anymore. I've turned to a vanilla or a caramel latte. He smiles in triumphant. I guess... things really have changed. I look at his mug and see black coffee. I frown and look up to meet his wandering eyes.
