Chapter 2 — Babysitting for two
"Hye Youngi." She ran up to him and hugged him from the back. People were currently shocked in the cafeteria. "Yah! I told you to not do that, Ahyoung." Hye Young sighed.
"Whoa? You know Shin Ahyoung?" One of his friends asked. "She's my childhood friend. We were best friends in middle school." He explained feeling himself blushing.
"Hye Youngi have you checked? I downloaded love alarm!" She grinned. "Ah, you said you don't believe in apps like that? How are you liking it so far?"
"I don't believe it too much though since there is no scientific explanation on how this app could detect a genuine human heart. But its fun to play with." She giggled. "So shall we test it? If it rings, then this app is legit."
"Ahyoung, I haven't download love alarm yet. And I'm not planning to." He said. "But–" she took out her phone to see dozens notifications coming to her phone.
"My love alarm is going crazy. You're in one of them right?" Ahyoung asked. Hye Young chuckled as he pat her head. "Of course I am, now lets go have lunch."
"But–" She wished that everyone could just leave the cafeteria so that she could know but she's not going to do that. That would be so selfish.
"He's ruffling Shin Ahyoungs head like that? Gah! I'm so jealous!"
They both finally sat down next to each other when another person squeezed between them. "I hope theres room from one more." Hwang Sun Oh smiled.
"Yah! Theres a dozens of seats left in the cafeteria why don't you piss off." She glared. "Ah, protective are we?" Sun Oh asked. "Finally your true colors are showing."
"You've been hogging Hye Youngi the whole day so give it up will you? Why are you so obsessed with him?" She raised her eyebrow. "Hye Young is my best friend."
"If he's your best friend you wouldn't have left him alone to the states." She crossed her arm. "Yah, thats clearly an offside Shin Ahyoung. Time out." Hye Young whispered.
"You can't seriously be taking his side Hye Youngi! He's the one who's wrong here!" She pouted. "You heard what he said." Sun Oh glared.
"Ugh fine. See you after school losers." She grabs an apple and munched on it furiously walking back to class.
Just when she reached the hallway she came across a short boy with a bowl cut. "Nice bowl cut, is that even a thing now?" She snorted.
"Love alarm is legit and it is not stupid. You're just upset because your crush haven't downloaded his yet." The boy said balling his fist. "Ah, you overheard our conversation earlier. Well personally I don't believe in it."
"Everyone has their opinion and if you do believe it then keep dreaming naruto." She chuckled before walking away. "Strange young man are you even in my grade? Are you allowed to talk to a senior like that?"
"Its Duk Gu, I don't know why people praise you. You're just like those mean girls. You're just like her yet I can't stop. ."
"Liking her." He felt a tear roll down his eyes as he wiped them quickly.
Shin Ahyoung sighed. "Yah, I don't do this much but. Wanna have some apple at the school courtyard?"
Duk Gus face lit up. "Sure, I would love to."
"This Gulmi sounds like a bitch, no offense." She said munching on her apple. "Tell me about it. I mean she knows I like her but she thinks of me as some kind of disease or something. Just because I'm ugly."
"Do you think I'm ugly, Ahyoung?" Duk Gu asked. "Well yes, but I'm saying that just because I have high standards I mean I dated Park Jimin for god sakes."
"You dated Park Jimin? The girl who was on dispatch was you all along yah! You sneaky little–"
"Now listens to my problems. You're not the only one with problems you know." She scoffed. "Okay then proceed." Duk Gu said. "Well theres this guy I really like, his name is Lee Hye Young. He has the most adorable smile and eyes. And his hair is so tacky but thats not a bad thing, it's just cute in my eyes."
"Are you insulting him or should he be okay with–"
"Anyways theres this other guy but he's an asshole though. I mean he looks straight up like a Korean fuckboy you get what I mean?"
"Whats a fuckboy and where did you get that term? And that sounds like a bad word." Duk Gu asked. "Well I live in the states for like three years. I'm sorry words like that just slipped right through my mouth."
"Anyways this douchebag, Hwang Sun Oh always hogs over my Hye Youngi like he is his pet. And I'm not even liking it one big. His eyes are so big like a frog, I thought it was going to pop out any sooner and he is far uglier than my Hye Youngi. ." She ranted.
"Um, Shin Ahyoung can you–"
"Ugh! You gotta stop interrupting me while I talk shit about something! For god sakes! Duk Gu!" She rolled her eyes whining.
"As I was saying. ."
"No. . No. ." Duk Gu said waving his fingers on his lips signaling her to stop talking.
"Go on, I'm listening." A voice said and as she turned back she realized it was non other than a very angry looking Hwang Sun Oh. "Oh, I didn't mean to–"
"We need to talk." Sun Oh said crossing his arm. "Duk Gu? I'll see you after school." Ahyoung gave him a reassuring smile and with that he left them.
"So what do you wanna talk about?" She asked trying to sound as chill as possible knowing that he knew she was talking shit behind his back.
"Do you like Hye Young?" He asked raising his eyebrow. "Yes." Ahyoung answered without hesitation. "Why? Do you love him too?" She asked.
"You can't love Hye Young. You selfish brat. He's my best friend." Sun Oh snarled. "Me? Selfish? I'll show you selfish." She balled her fist.
"Guys! Stop it!" Hye Young walked up towards them. "I knew you two would be here. Its almost like babysitting a couple of babies." Hye Young said massaging his temples.
