Chapter 9 — Wrong alarms
"Ah." Shin Ahyoung paused when she came eye to eye with the cashier. "Shin Ahyoung." Kim Jojo muttered trying to hide her blush. "Well this is embarrassing." Ahyoung said as she looked down on her pads she just brought.
"Is this all?" Kim Jojo asked. "Some pain killers would do." Shin Ahyoung said. "Actually, I don't advice you to drink pain killers. It's not healthy for the womb." Kim Jojo said.
Shin Ahyoung chuckled and then proceed to nod. "Ahjumma can I borrow her for a minute? I would like to have a chat with her." Ahyoung smiled at the aunty who was clearing the drinks section.
"No can do, she needs to get work done." She scoffed. "I'll pay you in US dollars for every minute I spend talking with her." She clicked her tongue in annoyance.
"Oh and I will also need three cups of noodles. One for you and two for me." She said. "I'll see you outside."
Shin Ahyoung walked outside struggling with period cramps as she sat down. Kim Jojo went out with the noodles cooked as she sat down across her.
"What do you want to talk about?" Kim Jojo asked nervously. Hoping that this girl will not turn out like Gul Mi.
"I'm sorry for what happened in the gym. I don't know what came over me, I was too furious by the idea of you and Hye Young that I– lost control." She bit her lip.
"And I'm sorry for that. Will you forgive me?"
Kim Jojo was taken back. "I was never angry at you, just at myself. They are right." Kim Jojo shrugged. "I'm a terrible person aren't I? I'm just surprised you didn't hate me."
"How can I?" Ahyoung asked as she slurped the noodles. "That Ahjumma earlier, she seems annoying as fuck. Who is she to you? Your boss is terrible." Ahyoung scrunched her nose.
"That is my aunt. And I owe her literally everything so she made me work extra hours at the grocery store." She smiled slightly. "Well damn, that sounds awful."
"My parents died when I was young so I have no choice rather than staying with my aunt and Gul Mi–" Jojo was cut off. "Whoa whoa that irritating parasite is that Ahjummas daughter? The apple doesn't fall far from the tree."
"Say, Kim Jojo why don't you come work at my house?" Ahyoung asked. "Oh no I can't." Kim Jojo refused.
"You can also stay over at my place and help around the house. We have enough rooms for half of South Korea to fit in." Ahyoung smiled. "I insist, please." She said sternly.
"And after you earn your money you can repay your debt and live with me." Shin Ahyoung spoke. "Gosh, that is so generous of you, but we just met and you wanted me dead just a few weeks ago." Kim Jojo frowned.
"Well that is half true but I am trying to help you here. You can have anything you want. Just let me help you." Shin Ahyoung bit her lip.
"I'm not your little charity case so why should I?" Kim Jojo asked. "Because! Godamit Kim Jojo! I have been in your shoes and it's really nice to have a friend who helped out."
"I'm not doing this out of pity. I'm doing it because I genuinely want to help you."
"Alright then." Kim Jojo said biting her lip, "I'll try to negotiate with my aunt."
"Shin Ahyoung, did you offer Kim Jojo a job?" Sun Oh asked raising his eyebrow. "Yes, why?" Ahyoung asked eyes glued to her paperwork. "The whole school knows it and Gul Mis literally freaking out."
"She said you always act against everyones will and Kim Jojo is being bullied by you." He muttered. "Thats not true now is it?"
"That is half true where I'll admit for always acting against everyone else but why follow the crowd you know? I'm not a dead fish." She rolled her eyes.
"But I did not bully Kim Jojo. I feel sorry for her, she reminded me of who I was before I got in my place right now. And I just want to help create a better world for people like her."
"But Ahyoung, that is selfish. Who are you trying to prove, she's not your charity case." Sun Oh said causing her to gasp in shock. "Me? Selfish!? All I want is to–"
"Bet you're doing this to impress Hye Young, well thats pitiful."
"Hwang Sun Oh! Yah! What are you saying?!" Ahyoung asked. "Why do you keep chasing him? When he literally gives no shit about you. Thats pitiful." He growled.
And just then Shin Ahyoungs love alarm rang, she is quick to scan her surroundings and surprisingly theres no one passing by.
"And you'll always be pitiful. Just like me." He muttered slowly blushing.
"Sun Oh, please." Ahyoung said feeling an ache in her heart. "No, we're the same. Our hearts just kept ringing for the wrong person. I'm sorry." He frowned.
And with that he turned away.
"Am I a terrible person?" Ahyoung asked. "For offering someone a job to help her? Ahyoung, thats the most generous thing anyone could ever done." Duk Gu smiled softly.
"I mean I would probably do the same thing if I was rich and famous." He said. "But again, a boy can dream." He added, looking to the distance.
"Oh my god Duk Gu. I was never wrong to choose you as my best bud. You're like the magic mirror. You always agree to what I have to say." She smiled softly.
"That is maybe because we have the same zodiacs." He said. "Oh my don't tell me you believe in them." She rolled her eyes. "By the way, is there any chance, someone rang your love alarm today?" Duk Gu asked.
"How'd you know that?"
"Geminis have connections." Duk Gu assured. "I think there might be some mistake because, I believe Sun Oh just rang mine." She said biting her lip.
"Oh my god, Ahyoung. You're pretty and all of that alright but you're so oblivious."
