"You can do it, Cat," a child of nine years old exclaimed, cheering on his baby sister as she took her first steps.

"Carlisle, do not rush her," the older man advised, adjusting his tie and glancing over his shoulder towards his children.

Carlisle, still young and defiant after being reprimanded, turned back to his younger sister. Unable to contain his excitement, he continued to gesture and cheer for her.A smile crept across his face as he watched his two-year-old sister puff her cheeks, as if stubbornly declaring, "I've got this, stop your nagging!"

Catherina unceremoniously thumped down on her bottom, prompting Carlisle to quickly rise from his place on the ground. As he moved closer, he observed her eyes glisten, and when he attempted to help her, she swiftly swatted his hand away.

He chuckled and shook his head at her defiant gesture, taking a step back to his previous spot. Carlisle knelt down as Catherina prepared to attempt walking again. He suppressed a laugh, amused by the intense expression of concentration on her face.

The children's father swiveled around at the precise moment his youngest made another attempt. His eyes widened as she made significant progress, far more than he had observed before. Caught up in the moment, he casually flung his coat to the side, deciding to forego work and instead focused on witnessing his daughter's progress.

Catherina reached Carlisle, who enthusiastically shouted, "YES!!!" as he picked her up in his arms."You did it, Cat," he said with gentle affection, rubbing his cheek against hers.

She tried to push his face away, but her older brother remained undeterred. Their father approached, embracing both children and placing a gentle kiss on his daughter's forehead.

"Congratulations, Catherina," he praised, "Now, let's just work on getting you to speak."

"Father," Carlisle responded in a jokingly disapproving tone, prompting the older man to chuckle and gently tousle his hair before replying, "I must concede that, my son. Your sister is indeed quite extraordinary."

"I wholeheartedly agree," his son responded with pride, adding cheekily, "Considering that I am the one raising her" The father chuckled at the remark.

"Regrettably, I must head to work now," the father stated, checking his pocket watch. "Will you two truly be alright?"

"Don't fret, father," Carlisle asserted, following his father towards the door while still cradling Catherina in his arms. She amused herself by playing with her brother's ear.

"Of course," the father began, "Remember—"

"I know," Carlisle interrupted with a grin, "If there's an emergency, we'll go to Mrs. Clarke."

"Right. And remember—"

"We won't open the door for strangers," Carlisle reassured with a smile, gently patting his father's arm. "Don't worry, father. Now go! You don't want to be late."
