"how are you feeling?" jack asked me as he held my hand.

"i feel excited but also a little nervous" i said looking at him.

we were on a plane right now flying back to omaha to get ready for our wedding which is exactly seven days from now.

"me too, baby" he whispered as bailey started to fall asleep in my arms.

"lily!" marissa exclaimed when i walked inside the house. she ran over to me and hugged me tightly.

"hey, sis" i smiled embracing her in my arms.

we pulled away from the hug a few seconds later and a young boy appeared next to my sister, i'm guessing he was josh, the boy she was dating now.

"right, lily this is josh.. josh, this is lily" she introduced us.

"hi" i smiled at him. "it's nice to see you"

"yeah, you too" he nodded.

"hey sorry i had a little trouble with the seat belt" jack said walking in with a sleeping baby in his arms. i just smiled and kissed him.

"he's so big now" marissa said looking at bailey.

"yeah, he's growing fast" i smiled looking at my son.

"i'm gonna be back, i'm going out with josh but tonight i want to have a girls night!" she said.

"of course, have fun" i smiled and she and her boyfriend left so now it was just me, jack and bailey.

"where's your dad?"

"i don't know, actually" i said and took bailey in my arms though and smiled at him.

"hey" my dad walked into the room.

"dad, there you are" i smiled and half hugged him because i was still holding the baby.

"how are you?" he asked and looked at bailey. "and how is my grandson?"

"we're okay, dad" i said.

"can i?" he asked and i handed bailey to him.

we all sat down on the couch, "so how are things with marissa?"

"pretty sure she hates me" he chuckled.

"why?" i asked.

"we're always arguing over something whether it's her grades or her getting in trouble." he sighed.

"i think she just feels that you treat her differently than you do with me and b growing up." i said

"yeah, well i don't really know how to raise a teenager on my own." he sighed.

"you were a great dad to us, and you are to marissa too. you just need to let her breathe sometimes." i said.

"yeah, i guess." he mumbled. "speaking of, where has she gone off to?"

"she just left with her boyfriend. he's pretty cute."

"yeah, she likes that boy." he said.

"high school romance, how adorable." jack said making me chuckle.

"what, you jealous you didn't have a high school romance?" i looked at him.

"i did," he said. "you, even though we weren't technically together."

"we weren't together at all, jack." i said shaking my head at him.

"but we are now," he said and kissed my cheek. "we are basically high school sweethearts."

"i don't think that's how that works," i smiled.

"your mother would be so happy if she were here. she used to always tell me how she thought you two were perfect for each other." my dad said making me smile.

"really? she did?" i asked.

"yeah, she loved you two together." my dad responded.

"i wish she could be there," i mumbled.

"yeah, but she's still with you." jack said to me.

"i know," i said and looked at bailey who was squirming in my arms. i kissed his little cheek and smiled. "at least i have you,"

"let me see my baby," jack said and i handed bailey to him and jack started playing with him which made me smile.
