"Looks like the whole damn clan is here," Kadence muttered as she parked behind a row of cars in her parents' driveway.

Visiting her parents was part of Kadence's Saturday ritual. No matter how packed her week got, she always carved out time for family. She knew she needed these breaks to keep her sanity in check.

"Well, well, look who finally decided to show up," Ryan called out as she strolled into the living room, where ESPN had everyone's attention.

"The princess has arrived to bless all your pitiful lives," Kadence announced, grinning.

"Must be time for the princess's rent to get paid," Cameron said, tossing a pillow in her direction.

"Nope, handled that already," Ryan shot back, smirking.

"Then what's the occasion? Feeling sentimental?" Cameron teased.

"Shut up, Frick and Frack. Unlike you two, I actually check in on Mom and Dad. Isn't that right, Daddy?"

Kadence said, dropping onto the couch beside her father.

"That's right. How's my favorite girl?" Charles asked, planting a kiss on her cheek.

"I'm good, Daddy. How about you?"

"Even better now that you're here," he said, a wide smile spreading across his face.

Kadence beamed at the number one man in her life. Her father was her absolute favorite person in the world, and she never doubted for a second that the feeling was mutual.

Ryan snorted. "Funny, Pops, you said the same thing to us when we walked in. So, who are you lying to?"

"We all know Kadence is his favorite," Cameron chimed in, shaking his head.

"Of course she is. She was his last soldier," Ryan added, sending the room into a fit of laughter.

Charles grinned. "For your information, young bull, I still have plenty of ammunition left. Just ask your mother."

"Aww, hell nah," Cameron groaned, covering his face.

"For real, Pops, keep it G-rated, or I'm out," Ryan said, pretending to gag.

"Yeah, I'm with Ry. Nobody wants to hear about you and Mom getting busy," Kadence shook her head.

Charles shrugged. "How y'all think you got here? There was no stork dropping babies at this house."

"You're a nasty old man," Kortez said, shaking his head.

Charles laughed. "I'd show you what nasty really is if my daughter weren't sitting right here."

Ryan shot Kadence a look. "Don't let him fool you, K. You're just as bad as the rest of us."

"She's worse," Cameron added, grinning.
