He didn't notice me at first so I took the opportunity to run right out of the room barely paying enough attention to keep my speed at a human level. I heard Axton call me and follow me but I had to get out.
I ended up running right out of the house and into the woods. I started crying as I fell to the ground in a heap. Bad memories flooded my thoughts and I pulled my legs to my chest and buried my face in my knees.
"Dove?" It was Marie. I let out at cry as she came over and gave me a hug.
"One of those people in there is my uncle. He's really close to my dad. I can't let them bring me back. I would survive if I did go back but whatever my dad said about my blood scared me more than the possible abuse.
"It's all going to be okay sweetie. Now lets go inside before Axton has a fit. I made him stay inside." He laughed trying to brighten the mood.
"By the way the bigger reason why I don't want to go back is because I overheard my dad talking about how much my blood is worth. Do you know anything about that?" She froze.
"Oh! We really shouldn't let you go back. Werewolf blood is more valuable than anything on the black market. It makes you look younger, cures a bunch of diseases and it can make you more powerful." She whispered to me. Oh shit. "Keep silent, no matter what he says because he might be in on it okay? Here's a tissue if you want to wipe off your face," she said kindly. I wiped my eyes and nose. I sniffled and blinked a couple of times very forcefully hoping to look somewhat normal.
"What happened Dove?" Axton asked quietly as he hugged me the second I came through the door. I breathed in his amazing scent and just allowed myself to snuggle into him a bit. "You don't have to tell me. If you don't want to," he said and kissed the top of my head.
I smiled at him and pulled out my phone. 'That guy with the grey hair is my uncle, I left because of family problems I won't get into details. Please don't answer any of his questions about me and don't listen to what he says. He's always hated me and he makes up a lot of shit' I typed. He read it and nodded. 'Thanks,' I typed.
I brushed the leaves and grass off of me before talking a deep breath and walking in arm and arm with Axton. "DOVE!?" My uncle almost screamed. I chose to ignore him as I sat down between Axton and Marie. "What the fuck are you doing here? Your father will be so happy to see that we've found you!" He gave me a sick smile. Ugh. I dug into my pasta, it was amazing.
"Dove! Why are you here?" Nope. Not going to do anything. "ANSWER ME GODDAMNIT!" He yelled and pounded his fist on the table. I jumped slightly but still didn't do anything.
"She can't you dipshit! And don't talk to her that way!" Xander yelled right back at him. Oh boy this wouldn't end well.
"She is my niece! I can speak to her however I would like you ignorant little shit!" Uncle Charlie hissed. Bad idea on his part. Xander hissed right back but his eyes turned black and Charlie looked scared for half a second.
"Charlie! I will not have my children spoken to in that way in my home!" Esmerelda was angry, you could tell, but in a much more controlled way.
"Fine, I'll leave but I'm taking my niece with me!" He roared stalking towards me. I squeaked a tiny bit and leaned away from his approaching figure. Fortunately I leaned right into Axton who wrapped his arms around me.
"She's not going anywhere. Especially with you." Axton said very darkly.
"She is my flesh and blood! You have no right to her!" My uncle yelled. What the hell? "Dove tell him!" He ordered me. Oh hell no. Luckily he was in striking distance so I just kicked out my foot in a small but vicious movement. Right in the family jewels.
He fell to the floor with a groan where Xander and Igor worked to drag him out of the house. He pounded on the door demanding to be let in for a good 10 minutes before leaving. Well isn't this just fucking fantastic?
"Dove? Is he actually your uncle?" Questioned Esmerelda after he left. The other guests had left out the back door during all the commotion. I typed into my phone my answer and showed it to Axton who still held me.
"Not anymore," he said for me. Esmerelda nodded thoughtfully then we all went back to eating. Axton wouldn't let me go though so I just ate on his lap. To say that was a strange experience was an understatement.
He is our mate you know, my wolf quietly said in my head. I assumed so, but thanks for the confirmation, I responded to her but felt like doing a happy dance.
I was really tired by the time dinner was over, Axton had to pretty much carry me up the stairs. Joseph was right behind us, he followed us into the room. I fell onto the bed without even changing out of this tight dress. Too tired to care.
"Get out," I heard Axton say.
"No, where would you expect me to go your highness?" Joseph snapped back.
Stop it. Joseph get the fuck out. Axton you stay, I typed and cuddled into the bed further. I actually heard Axton smirk.
"As you wish Princess," Joseph sighed dramatically. "I'll just use your boyfriend room," he zipped out of the room as Axton went after him.
No, you stay here! I weakly slammed my hand on the bed with my dwindling strength.
"Alright love, want me to sleep on the couch?" He looked very hopeful as he looked at me. Aw what the hell, why not.
No. Come here! I pouted like a child. I get weird when I'm tired. He crawled in next to me also fully clothed from the day. I snuggled into him and fell asleep.
