(There is a 'The Last of Us' spoiler in here if anybody cares. It's a video game.)
After a week of physical therapy and my wolf healing in mega overdrive I was cleared to leave.
We immediately got into Marie's giant truck and drove home. I was excited to see the rest of the pack. And to take a shower in my own bathroom.
'Where is everybody?' I thought to Marie. She bit her lip and tears started to fall from her eyes. I wiped them off of her face with great concern.
'Ron and Mona, Kat and Mike are dead. 'That same sickness you had is sweeping across populations of werewolves everywhere. They don't know how to cure it and you are the only one that had survived so far. If one mate gets it then the other does as well, Axel is sick but Raina isn't showing any signs yet. Axton didn't get it because he isn't a wolf. Let's actually talk elsewhere.' She tried to remain straight faced through it all but failed. I hugged her and lead her up the stairs as much as everybody protested. Axton tried to follow us but I had to push him slightly to make sure he got my message. Back off.
Once we got into Marie's room she started weeping again. I realized she was showing slightly and I couldn't help but smile at the thought of babies. "I'm sorry Dove. You shouldn't have to go through all this." She blubbered.
I cleared my throat and took a drink of water from a bottle on the dresser in preparation of talking, still hadn't done that. "It's okay," I sounded like I had a pound of gravel in my throat. I cleared my throat more violently and took a bigger sip of water. "Where are they?" That sounded more like my normal voice.
"They are on the other side of the hall. Raina refuses to leave him." She said as she pulled herself together and put on a stoic face.
We went to their room and Marie almost started crying again. Raina was lying next to Axel who didn't look like he was breathing. Raina was but it was already labored and she was sweating.
Suddenly a crazy idea came into my head. They were obviously going to die. But what if I could help? I looked around and saw a compact mirror on the dresser. I threw it as hard as I could at the wall and was happy to see a piece break off. I grabbed the little piece and sliced open my finger down to the middle joint.
"What are you doing?!" Marie asked.
"Relax. I'm just going to try it. I saw it in a video game. We won't know if it works for a while. Bring me some bandages." I ordered my alpha, never a good thing to do. But she ran off and brought back bandaids from her room.
"Why!?" Marie yelled as she saw me cutting into Axel and Raina's arms. It was just a small cut but it was over a large vein so they started to bleed very quickly.
"In the video The Last of Us this girl got bit by a zombie but she lived. Something in her blood cured her. She was the only one to survive a zombie bite. I was the only one to survive this right?" I asked her as I rubbed and squeezed my own blood into their wounds before covering them in bandages very tightly.
"And you think this will work?" Marie asked nervously as she wrapped up my now very painful and cold finger. Maybe I didn't have to cut that big.
"I have no clue." I said honestly. "I'm going to go out and do stuff alright? I don't know where I'll be but I'll have my phone. Just so somebody knows where I am," I told her before walking out of the room and to my own.
I took a long hot shower in my own bathroom using my own vanilla body was and strawberry shampoo. I got dressed in a tight black long sleeved, vneck and a pair of ripped black jeans. I wore my combat boots and put on a choker necklace. I brushed out my hair and it dried wavy which suited me just fine.
I didn't have a car but I asked Marie and she told me to walk. Alright then. I grabbed my big puffy coat and threw that on. I remembered the town wasn't all that far away but the driveway seemed to be miles long.
I finally came to a long road with shops on either side. There weren't many people out but all the stores seemed to be open. The first one that caught my eye was a tattoo parlor. Eh, why not?
I walked in and a little bell tinkled over my head. Two female heads popped up from behind a separating wall and smiled at me.
"Hello! What can we do for you?" They said in a Canadian accent. Awesome I love Canadians!
"Could I get a tattoo?" I asked. They smiled really wide and motioned for me to sit in a chair.
"What would you like?" Asked the other woman. They seemed identical the only difference being hair and clothes. This woman had black hair with a lime green streak while the other had a hot pink streak.
"Uhm, how about a wolf and a persons name?" I came up with the first things I could think of.
"Alright. How old are you? Probably should have asked that first," said the girl with the pink streak with a sheepish smile.
"I'm 19. I have ID if you need it but it's from America if that makes a difference. I'm Dove by the way," I said smiling at them. They seemed cool.
"Yeah we will need to see the ID. Nice to meet you, I'm IzzyLee and this is my sister Sally." The green streaked girl said. I handed them my driver license and IzzyLee typed in all the information while Sally showed me different styles of wolf and different fonts of text they could do. I eventually chose a wolf howling with a moon in that background, she promised me it could match the colors I wanted. I also picked a font that looked totally normal just with slight swirls and a bit of elegance to it.
"Alright you are all set. You can pay after we are done just in case you don't like it. Now, we will each do one so where you you want them?" IzzyLee asked me. I thought about it for a few minutes before speaking.
"On either side of my boobs. So one on each side." I wasn't going to be bashful around these women. They both started to crack up before Sally nodded and they led me to a room off of this main room we were sitting in. I raised my eyebrow in questioning and Sally laughed again.
"Well you will have to take off your shirt and possibly your bra, do you want the people outside to see that?"
"You have a point there," I laughed with her as I took my jacket off and my shirt. No need for the bra to come off since they would be on the side but in the middle of my rib cage.
"Alright. We will start with just an outline of black and then if you like it we will fill it in. It's going to be painful but just how painful depends on your pain tolerance. Now. Who's name would you like me to tattoo?" Sally asked. The name would be on my left side and the wolf on the right.
"Axton," I said.
