Chapter 44 (picture of Reese)
-Axton's POV-
I'm not exactly sure what I did when she fell. I lost control of myself. I was across the yard, just snapped one of the "mutts" necks, as Dove called them.
I heard Diego's body slam into the ground, I saw her face contort before she shifted back with her hand on her bleeding stomach before her legs have out and she fell.
I was there before I could blink and I managed to catch her bridal style even though the force of it brought me down to the ground.
Everybody else shifted back or ran over quickly. I could only pay attention to her. He hand had stayed on the scratches on the right side of her stomach as she fell, her suit was ripped and blood was flowing from the scratches and the bite on her shoulder. She was shaking with pain even though I could tell she was unconscious.
"I'll go get the others from inside," my sister squeaked, her hand firmly clamped against her nose as she ran back into the house.
Why had I let her out if my sight? I felt her pain when she was fighting him. I still feel it now.
"Axton." I was snapped out of my thoughts by Jordan. "We have to bring her inside. You can carry her, she will heal faster with you near. I have some medical knowledge and we will have to get her out of the suit to make sure she is healing properly."
I growled at that. Nobody is touching her. She's mine.
"Relax vampire, I see her as family. That's it." He said firmly. I wrapped my arms around her tighter and stood up.
"Dove!" Her sister screamed as soon as she saw her limp in my arms. Joseph grabbed her and held her there but looked at me with fear in his eyes.
"She will be fine." I stated, my voice anything but steady.
"Go change her into some sort of pants or whatever you want but no shirt. Don't you growl at me we need to watch to make sure her wounds heal!" Jordan snapped at me again. Dove whimpered in my arms and I reluctantly agreed.
I took her to her room and gingerly peeled off the ripped suit. She was relatively still but once I got near her stomach she started to whimper and twitch. I managed to get off and put a pair of sweatpants on her as well as a sports bra I think it's called.
The bleeding had already stopped but the wounds were still there. I went into her bathroom and got some wet toilet tissue to wipe off the dry blood. Again once I got to her stomach she struggled but didn't wake up.
I carried her back downstairs and set her down in the bed of the once bedroom we have down there.
Jordan, Alicia and Marie were the only ones in the room. I eyes Alicia considering the last time she was near Dove she had to remove herself.
"I'm okay now. I promise." She assured me and looked extremely worried.
"I'm going to start on her shoulder. Everything should be almost done healing by now." Jordan said, looking at me for permission. Smart man. I nodded and he moved her hair out of the way to look at the wound.
He was right, it was fully healed only leaving what looked like paper cuts on her skin from that bastard canine teeth.
"Her stomach now," Jordan looked at me again and I nodded.
He furrowed his brows at the 4 large bruises matching where the actual cuts had been.
"What? What's wrong?" I asked frantically and he shook his head.
"Nothing I don't think. It's just that we usually don't bruise. It just immediately heals." He turned his head slightly and reached a hand out to touch the angry purple marks.
The second he applied the tiniest amount of pressure, Dove's eyes snapped open except they were their usual blue. They were her wolfs silver. She turned to Jordan and snarled ferociously. He immediately backed up with his hands up.
"What did you do!?" I yelled as Dove flopped back down with a whimper.
"I didn't do anything! That's so strange." He mumbled. "Well I think she should be fine. She'll wake up in an hour or less." And then he walked out.
"Do you know what just happened?" I pleaded with Marie and my sister. They were both biting their lips and Marie even had tears in her eyes, her hand on her own bulging stomach. They both shook their head and left the room.
I sighed and pulled a near by chair right up to the left side of the bed. I grab her limp hand in mine and sigh. Careful of the bruises, I place my head on her stomach and turn so I'm looking at her face.
I close my eyes and decide to listen to her heartbeat. It's been calming since I met her. I can feel all color leave my face when I hear not one, but three heartbeats.
In a daze I stand up and stumble out of the door and continue to stumble until I make it into the living room. I don't register my mother crying while my father holds her, I don't register Melody sobbing either. I don't even pay attention to Hannah who looks deathly pale and in pain while Jordan takes care of her. I only have my announcement in my head.
"Dove is pregnant."
