-Steve's Flashback-

Voices spoke around me. I blinked my eyes open.

"Hi, Captain Rogers. We work for S.H.I.E.L.D." an Agent said.

"Hi. Where am I?" I asked.

"New York. You've been asleep for almost 60 years. I'm Nick Fury....I know this is a bit shocking to you, but we woke you up to do one thing." Nick said.

"And what's that, sir?" I asked.

"We need you to go on a mission to kill Natalia Romanova, a.k.a. the Black Widow. She's a Russian assassin/spy." Nick stated.

"But, sir, I don't even know her. Why would I kill her?"

"She's an enemy. Or...she was. But we need her gone. And also, she was assigned to kill you."

"How could she have an assignment to kill me when I've been asleep?"

"She found out that we were planning on waking you up."

"I can't make any promises that I'll kill her, sir."

"Try your best. The mission is in 3 days."

3 days later...

I was sitting at a bar in Times Square, looking for my target. According to Director Fury, she should have red hair and green eyes, and would be using an alias with the initials N.R.. I ordered a drink to blend in. I took a few sips then checked my watch. It was 10pm. She would've been here by now if she was coming...wouldn't she? Unless she was waiting for me to leave...

I got up and walked around, scouting for her. I thought I saw her outside the window, and I was so focused on it that I didn't even notice when I walked right into someone.

"Oh, I'm sorry!" the girl exclaimed.

"No, it's my fault, I wasn't paying attention." The girl looked up. She wore dark clothes and red gloves, had red hair, beautiful forest-green eyes, a great smile... She was perfect, except for one thing. This was the girl I was assigned to kill. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine."

"Are you sure?"

"Definitely. How about you?" she laughed.

"I'm..I'm okay. But I feel bad, let me at least buy you a drink." I said.

"Why thank you. Such a gentleman." she said, smiling. We walked towards the bar and got our drinks.

"God...sorry, I didn't even ask your name." I said. I was hoping she didn't notice my bad acting attempts.

"It's Natasha. Natasha Rushman. And what about you?"

"Steve...Steve...Barnes." it was the first name that came to mind.

"Nice to meet you Steve. What brings you here?"

"Oh, I was supposed to meet someone." I said, trying to not give too much away, but she knew exactly who I was.

"I'm guessing she didn't make it."

"Guess not."

"Well, a nice guy like you shouldn't be alone, not on a Saturday night." she smirked. I chuckled.

"And what's a pretty girl like you doing all alone?" My flirting skills aren't very good, since no one used to ask me out very much.

"I'm not alone. I have you." Natasha smiled. We had finished our drinks. The bar was beginning a karaoke contest. "OOH! Do you wanna join?" Nat asked excitedly.
