Brianna POV
I woke up this morning and turned on the TV in my room.
The news was on and they were talking about Tyler. Its been 5 days since he passed away. Its so hard. I just lost the love of my life. Tyler had just proposed to me a couple of weeks ago. We planned to get married when we graduated high school.
The cop who shot Tyler is still free. They said that they were still gathering evidence to bring to the grand jury. The video should have been enough evidence for them to prosecute him. But its always different when it comes down to one of their own. Had it been a black cop who killed a white teen, he would already be in jail.
I got out of bed and put on some clothes.
I am going back to school today. I've missed the last three days of school and my grades have all started to fall. I gotta get back in my books.
I walked downstairs and went to the kitchen.
Dad: You're going back to school today?
Me: Yeah.
Dad: Are you sure you're ready?
Me: Yes dad. Tyler would want me to stay focused on school.
A few tears fell but I quickly wiped them away.
I grabbed an apple for breakfast and then left out to get in the car with my brothers.
Everyone was staring at me as I was getting out of the car and going in the building.
My first few classes went by okay until I got to government. Today, the teacher decided we were going to talk about what happened to Tyler.
Mr. Hoffman: So, recently a young black male was gunned down by the police. A video went viral of the situation.
He was talking and then he played the video.
You could hear my screams loud and clear and I tried to get up and leave the classroom.
Mr. Hoffman: Where do you think you're going?
Me: I'm leaving.
Mr. Hoffman: If you leave, you fail.
Journey: Mr. Hoffman, that is so wrong. How can you say that to her when you know what she is going through right now?!
Mr. Hoffman: That Tyler kid committed a crime and he faced the consequences of it. This is a class so you need to leave your personal feelings at the door and complete all classroom assignments while you are here.
Me: Go to hell!
I turned and walked out.
I can not believe that fucking teacher. He just doesn't get it. Now he's about to have my parents on his ass and probably the rest of the kids in that class parents too.
I went to find my brother, Jahari.
He was in his psychology class. I opened the door and when the teacher saw me, she could tell something was wrong. Her name is Mrs. Langley and she is one of the best teachers in this school. And so could Jahari when he looked at me.
Mrs. Langley: Jahari, step outside.
Jahari came out along with her.
Jahari: What's wrong baby sis?
Me: Mr. Hoffman is a fucking asshole.
Jahari: What happened?
Me: He played the video of Tyler's murder in class. And when I tried to walk out, he told me that he would fail me if I left and then when Journey stuck up for me, he told him that its a class and all personal feelings should be left at the door.
Jahari was fuming.
Mrs. Langley: Honey, do you want to come in my room and sit down?
I nod my head yes.
She let's us come in.
It was the end of this period and the bell rang and she didn't have a class for this next period.
Mrs. Langley: You two call your parents and let them know what's going on. I am going to the principals office to make him aware of this situation.
We nod and Jahari pulled out his phone to call our dad.
I heard Jahari explaining to him what had happened and I could hear him yell through the phone.
Dad: WHAT?! I'M ON MY WAY. THAT TEACHER DON'T KNOW WHAT THE FUCK HE DONE STARTED.
He hung the phone up and I already knew that this wasn't going to end well for Mr. Hoffman's bitch ass.
