Bruised Rejection

Chapter 13

Athena

I waited and waited, and when I thought that she won't open the door, the door slowly opened and she was standing there.

She had a blank face and I can see the nervousness slowly creeping on her face. She reminded me of a small abandoned kitten. To calm her down, I put a gentle smile on my face and said;

"Hi, uhm can I come... in?" I asked making sure not to make her feel any type of discomfort.

It looked like she was thinking over what I said, but then she looked back at me and gave a slight nod and moved away from the door to give me way.

I gave her a big smile and entered the room. For sometime I stood awkwardly in the room not knowing what to do.

'You should talk to her, she can be your friend, Athena,' my wolf said.

I slowly looked towards her and found her staring at me, but when she saw me staring she quickly looked away and glanced down at the floor.

"Hi, uhm...can we talk?" I asked her and sat down on the bed and patted the space next to me.

She took slow steps towards the bed and sat beside me, she looked at me and again gave a slight nod.

Now when it was actually time to initiate a conversation, nothing was coming in my mind so I started with the basic question who's answer I was really curious to know.

"So what's your name? My name is Athena," I asked her.

She kept quit for a moment, not saying anything.

"Rosemary," she said in a voice barely audible, if it wasn't for my werewolf hearing, I wouldn't be able to hear it.

"That's a very pretty name, uhm - I know you might be feeling very uncomfortable right now" I slowly said and took a small breath.

"But I just wanted to say that I really want to be your friend. I know it's sudden but when I saw you the first time, I knew we had something similar and I- I just want you know to that I want to help you because I see a vulnerable me in you, if only you let me?" I continued and rambled on.

I looked at her and saw her mouth open and her staring at me a little surprised.

I then let out a small please and took my hand out for her to shake. She stared at my hand and then cautiously shook it.

"So does that mean we are friends now?" I asked hoping her answer be yes.

And then she let out a small yes.

I immediately yelled out a yes and went to hug her, but she slowly backed away.

"Oh I am sorry, I just got very excited" I said and saw a very small smile come on her lips as she wanted to say that it's ok.

I internally facepalmed myself for being too excited and making her feel uncomfortable.

Patience and she will slowly be comfortable with you, I reassured myself.
