Chapter 10

*3 days later*

MINHO POV

I walk to the combined medjack tent. I open the tent and head to the recording station. While walking I pass the beds. I see Brenda and Thomas fast asleep, but still holding hands. We allowed them into the same tent when their symptoms began to decrease.

I walk to notebook and begin to read:

Today the object was removed from Thomas's back. He was in immense pain but simply slept through it. We believe that the object inserts a poison as it remains in the body. When Brenda removed it from herself she had loss 3 pints of blood. We took a pint from minho, a pint from from Frypan, and a pint from Thomas. Their blood saved her life. She doesn't know, only Minho and Frypan.
Brenda figured out that the object, a splicer as we call it, is like a porcupine needle. It hooks on your skin after it buries itself beneath the skin leaving some of it exsposed. When it finally hooks it begins to inject a poison similar to that of a Griever. The poison caused irritation, loss of consciousness, and fever. As soon as the splicer is removed the poison can not be injected into their system anymore. Therefore when the splicer was taken/cut out their symptoms subsided.
The cause of where the splicer came from is still unknown, but all exploration of the area has become forbidden, for now. We need to do more research but Brenda and Thomas will make a full recovery.
I finish reading and let it sink in. We have to find what caused this. It could be a plant or some mutant creature WICKED created that failed and put here. No exploration till a further time, this should make things difficult.

THOMAS POV

The last 3 days have been hell. I have had a splicer ripped out of my side, blood drawn, been stabbed with multiple needles. It sucks. After the second night, after the Brenda ripping episode, I had been moved into Brenda's tent for a blood transfer. We were put next to each other. You could see the painful expression on her face. I did the only thing I could do, I grabbed her hand.

*present*

I finally wake up and I see brenda getting dressed. She is throwing a t shirt on and wearing a pair of jeans. "Hey" she says pulling the t shirt over her head. "Hey". Well this is awkward. "How are you feeling?" I ask. "Better". I see her lift up the shirt and feel the scar it left on her lower back.  "How are you?" She asks. "I'm fine. Just a little sore, I mean I had a splicer ripped out of my side that's all" I laugh. "Well I cut mine out so we are even" she laughs. I get out of bed and put some clothes on. I pull of the shirt I have had on for probably a couple of days and see Brenda look. "Like what you see?" I ask through a chuckle. I see her blush and  can't help but laugh. "See you at lunch?" I ask throwing on a shirt. "See you for Frypans stew" she says with a smile. I then grab a jacket and head out of the tent for the first time for what seems like weeks.
