I rubbed the back of my head as a poor attempt to try and soothe the bruise that was forming. Once the pain was gone to my level of satisfaction I realized I wasn't alone at the lunch spot anymore.

            "Uhhh you good Florence...?"

"Jesus christ you scared me, Julianna," I said in a matter of fact tone.

"I scared you!? Are you kidding me, as soon as I got here you slammed your head against the locker,"

Julianna sighed with the feeling of utter exasperation, I could tell there was something on her mind. You can always tell how Julianna felt just by gazing into her eyes. Seeing Julianna bothered, was really rare to experience, she's usually pretty much the literal embodiment of happiness. If there was a human representation of happiness it'd be her, she always helps bring out our energy in the most absolutely positive way.

"So uh anyway, are you okay...you seem kinda out of it." as I said that I tried to look her in her eyes to let her know I genuinely cared."

"Well yeah I'm fine, why are you asking?" I noticed her fingers anxiously playing with the keychains on her bag.

"Well, I mean...sorry, I don't really know where I was trying to go with that, you just kinda look. well. How do I put it? Bothered."

As I was saying those words I placed my hand gingerly on her shoulder as another way to reassure her that everything was alright. I removed my hand from her shoulder, and she sighed, placing her hair behind her ear. There was a brief moment of silence shared between us. The silence wasn't awkward at all, you know you're close with someone when you enjoy silence together, just as much as the laughing or playing around.

We were waiting for our other companion, usually, Julianna or I were the first ones to show up. Ezra was usually last to show, not because she was late, but because she was so busy. I've always wanted to be like Ezra, and how she's always so dedicated, and passionate about school, and everything else she does. Another thing I wish me, and Ezra had in common was our grades...which I know isn't gonna happen, but a girl can dream.

"What the hell, you guys look so depressed," a cheery bright voice could be heard above saying those words. Ezra then joined us, and sat down, pulling out her small container of trail mix to snack on.

"Huh, what do you mean," Julianna chuckled out in a wholehearted tone.

I'm not gonna lie, when all of us joined together it made life so much better. In an odd way, life is like cooking. Yes I know that sounds very odd, but listen. Say you've made a wonderful dish, it seems like its missing something, so you decide to add a certain mixture of spices, and what do you know? it enhanced the flavour, and experience of the whole dish. All the spices are different, yet so cohesive. Yes, yes I did just compare my life/friends with food.

"Oh boy, guess who didn't bring lunch again," while I said that I motioned my hands into silly little finger guns while awkwardly winking. I liked this, I liked laughing with them.
