Louis found that he was inexplicably lonely for the next couple of days. He had Emery, he had his study group, he had his family. But, for the first time in his life, he wasn't satisfied with it. He had learned to be grateful from the beginning, coming from a less than fortunate family. But... he felt like there was something more, now. Something that he had tasted, and wanted again and again and again. Kinda like chocolate, he mused. He wanted the adreline, the excitement, the same dropping, flying feeling whenever he even thought about Curly. Who was, unfortunately, still very present in Louis' mind. It was merely the day after they had had their awkward run-in, but it was still the only thing Louis could think about. He could very clearly remember the hurt tone in Curly's voice, and the sad, puppy-dog look in his eyes. Apparently, the tough biker wasn't as macho as he seemed.

"Louis!" Teagan, a girl from Louis' study group, was waving at him frantically, and was trying to run in her uncomfortable looking shoes. "Hey, I'm trying to start this club, like a language kind of thing, maybe French? Please, I need another student to lead with me." She pouted at him, clasping her hands together.

"Alright, Teagan, sheesh," Louis laughed at her expression, took the proffered pen, and quickly signed the sheet of paper she was eagerly holding. "I've got to go, I'm hanging out with Emery- ah, there he is. Bye, Teagan!" He waved and jogged towards Emery, who was sitting in his old car he had managed to buy last year.

"Are you straight now?" Emery stared in disbelief. "How did you get the hottest girl in study group to talk to you?"

Louis just smiles at his best friend, and ruffles his hair. "She wanted me help start a French club. Sounded cool, so I signed on as co- leader," He leaned forward to push the radio on. "Oh, I love this song!"

Emery barked out a laugh, and reached out to turn the radio off. "We are not listening to this trash."

"But Emery-" Louis was whining, but Emery refused to look at him, knowing he would cave as soon as he turned his head.

"Nope, Lou, no Colbie. I told you, no sappy stuff outside the house." Emery turned into Louis' driveway, and they scrambled out to see who could get to the T.V first.

Four hours, a movie and a game of Scrabble later, and Emery was telling Louis how Bethany had asked him to come to the races again, and hesitantly looked at his friend. "Louis, I know you hated it, so you don't have to come. I can go alone."

Louis, felt so, so bad right then. He knew how crestfallen his friend would be if he didn't acquiesce to go to the races again. Emery had a bad way with girls, but he was lucky enough to be smashed enough last time where he couldn't tell he was embarassing himself. He didn't want to let Emery go by himself.

So he didn't.
