Promotion Night was coming up. It really bothers me that they don't call it a graduation.
It was the most stressful thing trying to find a dress. I'm so small, so nothing ever fits right on me. I settled for a little black dress that I wore to my uncle's wedding that past summer.
When the night came, I curled my hair and put on a little bit of makeup, which is rare. I slipped on black heels, and did one final look in the mirror. Why would he ever like me? I'm not like the other girls he's dated before. Most of them wear so much eyeliner that it looks like they outlined their eyes with sharpies, and their hair has been straighten so many times that it looks like it's been fried to a crisp. I comb my fingers through my hair one last time and run out the door.
I walk into the room we are suppose to go to before we line up to go on stage. I found my all of my friends, but I was more looking for him than I was them.
"You guys look gorgeous!" I told them. Ava wore a short, slim blue and black dress, while Sara wore a white and blue floral, flowy dress. That just goes to show our different personalities.
"Hey Liz, there's your hunk," Sara says, pointing at him. He's wearing a blue button-up shirt, khakis and a yellow tie.
"Nice outfit," Daphne says.
"Hey that's my hunk your talking about!" I say. I look over at him. We make eye contact, and I suddenly look away. I don't know why, but I got embarrassed, so I hid behind Daphne.
Nothing really interesting happened after that. I went on stage, got a certificate and smiled for a couple pictures.
